Yes the water is way too cold to be in. That is a good idea on cleaning the light twice a year. I have left the light out so I can scrub it again.

I cleaned it a week ago but the brush I was using wasn't that good to get in the back. It had a bunch of stuff in it a week ago when I cleaned it. I got a little more out today with my new brush.

Cleaned out the light niche and yes it needed cleaning again. I got me a better brush than I used before. Brushed everything else in pool down very good. See if that does it.

I am into 14 days in the slam with 3 days to get rid of ammonia which makes a total of 17 days. My water has been Crystal clear for a week. I usually add bleach once a day (FC droping 3-4 ppm) but my CC runs 1.0 to 1.5. I know that I need to keep the slam going until .5 on CC but I wondering...
Yes definitely I will clean out that light niche when I can get in the water as it's very hard to see the from the deck. I have attached a couple pictures of something that's on the bottom of the pool that I don't know what it is. If I brush it it will just form a cloud and disappear.

I checked my water this morning after nine hours (12:00 pm to 9:00 am) and the FC dropped 3.5. With CC at 1 ppm. I just checked again after nine more hours and no drop this afternoon in FC ( like yesterday afternoon) with CC still at 1 ppm. Is this sounding normal?

I am still doing slam but may be toward the end. I was having trouble with my CC not coming down and still using FC. So I l took the light out of the nich and couldn't believe what was in there. I cleaned it out with a brush as I done this from the deck as the water is just 50 degrees. Then...
I meant to say I had 16 gallons on hand of chlorine. I checked my CYA and it was zero so I did ammonia treatment with free chlorine at 10. It only took 3 gallons before I had half of the free chlorine left at 10 minute intervals. I have CYA acid in a sock now for the CYA to be 30. Now doing...
Yes that's what I was thinking that I probably have ammonia. I've done the free chlorine test and after 10 minutes I only have 1 ppm FC. I have 32 gallons of chlorine right now and I am going to pick up more and then start the treatment.

My CC chorine is above .5 and my water is cloudy so I started slamming last night. Checking it and adjusting it every couple of hours.

From listening to the pool store last fall when I closed the pool caused some issues this spring. I normally do not open the pool until April but after rolling the auto cover open and seeing how the pool looked I decided to open early. I have a TF-100 test kit that I use. This was my test result...
The water looks good and i have been testing it but I had a problem last summer with cloudly water that took a couple weeks to clear up with the pool stores advice. I am looking forward to knowing what I am doing and for what reason.
I am located in Indiana, Our pool was built in 2012 so I have 3 summers under my belt but looking very much to next summer after finding this site. Will be getting me a Taylor test kit before next summer,
