Using old sand filter with Intex pool

With a tape measure it is 52" around divided by pi = 16" Sand Filter. Does that sound right? P.S The goal is to adapt this thing to my pool and to install a standard skimmer in the sidewall so I can use a pool cleaner like to auqa bug or similar. I know a two speed motor will save me money...

Using old sand filter with Intex pool

Greetings, I have an old Hayward sand filter-pump combo I bought from Leslies about 6 years ago. It had a Hayward 1HP pump that has seized bearings on it, what I was hoping to do was to use the old sand filter and base and purchase a Doheny's 3/4 hp pump to go with it. Problem is I dont know...

Update: Put the Filbut filter back in after my cloudy water cleared up. Still have crystal clear water after using this filter for 1 day. However I came to discover that the FC was allowed to drop to 1ppm during that period by lax pool care and not following the BBB method, FC is now back up...

Okay, now here is the Intex filter. Looks more tightly packed than the Filbur, but that is my opinion. So how often do you clean these filters? Daily, Weekly, etc etc pump runs about 4hrs per day on my pool should I do more? Thanks

    Filters

I will try and post some pictures of the filters side by side later today when I turn the pump off. It was crystal clear again this AM when checking it. P.S We have a lot of dust coming in from Africa this month, the sky is orange here due to this, I am sure the pool will be full of it by the...

My observation is that the stock Intex filter has more pleats and therefore I would assume more surface area than the Filbur filter. All I can tell you is that I clean these filters "Intex and Filbur" each morning and I can see the physical difference between them. The filbur was in for 1 day...

    Filters

Greetings, Just wanted to share my experience with you concerning filters. Let me start off by saying my chemicals are spot on and have been since the first week of setting up our pool, do to this excellent site :) I read up on filters, while I cant afford a sand filter this year I wanted to...

    Cloudy water?

I still have the orig filter I got with the pool. It is clean and ready to use. Truth be told, the filter that came with the pool appears to be "better quality" than the Filbur one? Seems to have more pleats and better construction, the Filbur filter can be compressed while the orig Intex one...

    Cloudy water?

Greetings, Been using the BBB method since setting the pool up and have had crystal clear water. I keep my FC around 3-5ppm at all times. My PH is a little high at 7.8 but I like it there. CYA=35 Bather load, 2 people for about 1.5 hrs each day. The only thing I changed was the filter I use...

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

Re: Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal f Plus I just have to add the Intex liners are designed to wrap around the top rail and exert a downward force on the legs. I think you would have had even more issues later down the road with that install. A replacement liner for my...

Looks pretty close to level to me :) Keep an eye out for SAND WASHOUT from splash water and or rain, this is one of the problems using sand underneath. But enjoy the pool for now and just inspect it after heavy bathing or large storms. Good job :)

Getting the site level without knowing what you are doing is going to be difficult. It is tedious, time consuming work, not to mention BACK BREAKING moving the dirt on your own. Check the forums here, there are several methods of doing this the right way, one of which I mentioned in an earlier...

Well let me say this.. Mine is worse than that... It is coming down next week to get the spot level. Pretty much everyone here will tell you that is TOO far out of level and I agree. I have decided when I take my down to have the excavator come back out to do his job properly, "which he has...
