    Considering solar, so many questions

I would easily have to run 100+ ft of piping plus there's good 4ft of head. You don't think that's a problem? Is there formula for a heat loss per foot of pipe, as well as pump sizing based on head? Because, if I could do that, I would use my sunroom roof which gets pretty much all the sun and...

    Considering solar, so many questions

Yes, i'm planning on building a pavilion for the outdoor kitchen, but that won't be for a while. In the mean time shed is it, but as I've mentioned i'm planning to extend the roof on it anyway. Thank you for the insight, any more insights on the other questions I have? :)

Brand New Jandy Lxi not firing

Could be the igniter. I had a same issue with my home water heater, you could see the igniter get red hot through the peep glass, but still wouldn't light, turned out to be bad igniter. Does it have any residue on it? That can cause issues.

    Considering solar, so many questions

So, I've decided to postpone the (gas) heater plan. Mainly due to the fact that I don't think I really need it. Auto cover really does a great job for keeping up the temps and i'm pretty much averaging only 1-2 degrees under the ambient, outside temp. For instance, all last week outside temps...

    What's your current pool temp?

Been holding steady between 80-82 for the past week. Got up to 84 yesterday. Having an auto cover rocks! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    sheer descent arch options

Final update for my sheer descent story. All done and done and I'm pretty happy with the results. I ended up picking a 5ft pool aquatics sheer descent with color led option off eBay and it worked out great. No need for additional pump or even jacking up speed on my epump either at full open I...

    Installing valve actuator

I see. Here's the info: Model: rs8-combo Aqualink: rev-t CPU p/n: b0029221 Does that tell you anything? Is that possible to replace the CPU that's for pool only without replacing the entire system? It would be nice to have these JVAs available as I have more plans in the future :) Sent from...

    Installing valve actuator

Yes this is exactly it and it worked perfectly! Thank you!!! And how hard would it have been for Zodiac support to walk me through this.... That's exactly what I asked and they kept telling me that this requires a tech to come out. Took all of 5 minutes. One thing I've noticed that I found...

    Installing valve actuator

Thank you, I actually already found the manual, but it's very generic on JVA assignments... Hoping someone can chime in that has done this and can walk me through. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Installing valve actuator

Folks, anyone? I can't be the first person adding a JVA to a control center... I really don't want to spend $$ on the service call for what's probably a 10 min. setup. I really appreciate it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Installing valve actuator

Yea I hear that... I called Zodiac support, thinking they may walk me through, and the support guy was completely non interested in helping. Eventually, told me I need to call the tech for any wiring issues. Well, I'm not wiring anything, just need to plug it in and then program it. It's the...

    Installing valve actuator

Hi all, Just received the Intermatic actuator for my sheer decent valve. Spent half an hour looking at my Aqualink rs control center and I'm not sure how to hook it up. I have Intake, return and solar JVA sockets all unused, but how do I assign one of them to use for what I need? And how do I...

    Fence Selection???

I think board on board fence should give you both the privacy and the wind through you want. We ended up doing board and batten fence style which is similar to board on board but with boards being directly overlaid one on another it would not pass through wind.

Did you change your gas meter for pool heater?

Jason, Did they also charge you for the meter upgrade? I just got off the phone with BGE and they told me there's definitely a charge if my meter is to be upgraded. They told me I currently have a 295k meter so def. not enough. If you don't mind sharing how much that upgrade was would be great...

    Inconsistent alkalinity test results

Yes I'm aware. Was mainly curios what was the number after one season and winter chemicals. I recall reading if you go over 2500ppm TDS is not good... I suppose that would be mainly accumulated stabilizer via chlorine tabs which can be tested by CYA test, but still was just me being curious...

    Inconsistent alkalinity test results

No worries, don't feel singled out :). But to point out, as I've stated above, I did not go there to double check my the results, rather than to check TDS levels since its one thing I cant test at home. Alkalinity question came up as a side effect of my visit. I'm certainly still a noob as...

    Jandy i-aqualink

Nope... As soon as I turn N back on on this D-link AP, iaqualink fails to connect... running latest firmware too. Based on feedback it does look like its device specific with some devices having issues with N and some not. As I said not a big problem for me since I run multiple AP's and still...

    Inconsistent alkalinity test results

Yep. Just found this thread as well. http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/37695-TA-question-Sodium-bicarb-vs-sodium-hydrogen-carbonate Per Chemgeek: "Sodium hydrogen carbonate is a synonym for sodium bicarbonate and is the same thing as baking soda. The Bioguard Alkalinity Up product you...

    Inconsistent alkalinity test results

Great, thank you folks. So I should just stick with my k2005 readings and ignore their "adjusted alkalinity" sell? Further, reading some more on this bioguard product looks like its not exactly like baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and will also increase pH whereas as standard baking soda will...

    Inconsistent alkalinity test results

So yesterday, I decide to take a water sample to my local pool and spa shop (Sweetwater), mainly to see what my TDS numbers are. All results looked pretty much up to par with my testing (I use Taylor K-2005 kit) except the Alkalinity. I'm getting a result of 130 TA with my k-2005 (tested again...
