    It's going down for real....

So PB says equipment should be here tomorrow. He will try and get it in tomorrow. If not it will be Friday. The shed is a bit of an adventure. It took ambit to get them here. The first time they swapped the door, this happened: See how the door is jacked up? Sigh. Oh and this: Yes...

A few more pictures. She's done. A little more delay on the plaster. They want the equipment in first so that they can fire everything up right after wet edge work is done. So. Next week.

Furniture to go with the pool... what a pain

Don't forget there is the low cost option that is almost exactly the same.

Furniture to go with the pool... what a pain

Yeah, I think there's a bit of difference in the grates. I agree, I think the top caps are different for logo purposes. The cauldron itself is sized differently (every so slightly) to prevent "complaints" I bet. The main thing missing on the one from pallet fork is that it doesn't have a...

A few pictures on progress of the raised wall. Doggie fence is almost done. I think Wet Edge goes down tomorrow. :)

Furniture to go with the pool... what a pain

Actually neither are cast iron. Cowboy Cauldron says they are sheet steel if you look under "how it's made". I thought it was cast iron as well. I sent the Titan guys a message on eBay about how the material of the cauldron and their response is "grade 50 steel". The top cap of the two...

Just a couple of pics. You can see the new fence posts in the back.

    It's going down for real....

There were some errors on my part on the shed. The side of the sheds come down about 2" below the surface of the pad. I actually knew this about 3 months ago when I ordered the shed. There was only supposed to be one side door with the other one facing the deck. Problem is when I had the...

Furniture to go with the pool... what a pain

For those that may be interested in the cauldron fire pit, I found a place that's a heck of a lot cheaper. In fact, I wonder if it's the actual company that manufactures it for Cowboy Cauldron. Titan 41 Cauldron Fire Pit The 41" version, which would be the "Ranch Boss" from Cowboy Cauldron...

Furniture to go with the pool... what a pain

I've been checking Craigslist from time to time to see if there's anything good to be found. I'll check out some of these other recommendations. Thanks!

    It's going down for real....

Ever feel like doing the pool is sort of a "two steps forward, one step back" process? So the clean up team came out Monday and removed the forms and cleaned up some. They brought in some sand to grade around the side a little more. All good. But the crew that is supposed to do the water...

Furniture to go with the pool... what a pain

Here I thought, picking the color of the Wet Edge was a process... trying to find backyard furniture is even more annoying. First, why is everything SO expensive. It's crazy to think that real teak anything is a thousand here, a few there. Then... you have to find the right colors and style...

    It's going down for real....

Hehe. Well let me post a few bad pics! Schedule coming up: Monday - water wall gets built, forms get removed, pad cleaned up. Tuesday - shed goes up Wednesday - crew will come clean up the deck, color, and seal it. Then we will do equipment and plaster! No dates yet.

    It's going down for real....

Once they clean it up, there will be a lot more gray. I wanted a gray base that will contrast the travertine coping. The sun is setting earlier now so I haven't been able to get good light on the decking. Maybe Friday.

Toby is very cute. I really do love these guys. They are very gentle and sweet. Some updated pictures. This won't be the final color as they haven't brushed and power washed the deck yet. Tuff Shed came out and confirmed the pad is good to go. Shed install next week sometime.

    It's going down for real....

Not sure if Spencer swims yet. We found him and his sister, Betty, in the neighborhood. We think someone dumped them, which unfortunately happens a lot in our neighborhood. They sat around in the same spot for about two days, we think waiting for the owner to return. We finally took them in...

    It's going down for real....

Hmm is there a pets thread? Seems like we are very close to finishing. But still lots to go. Equipment shed has to go in. Equipment has to go in. Wet Edge has to go down. Hmm. Three more weeks?

    It's going down for real....

Good news 1: Spencer has NOT eaten anyone. Poor guy is recovering from some soft tissue self inflicted injury while trying to chase much smaller and more nimble dogs. Good news 2: deck has been poured and they are trying to finish stamping today! Excited!! Not the best lighting. But it'll...

Pool size and setting form boards?

If I may respectfully suggest, you may want to be prepared for some give and take. I specified a 24x40x6 pool but it's not exact. It's probably closer to 23.5 x 39 x 5.5. Thing is this is a completely manual process. But you know what? My deck is bigger than I asked for. It sort of washes...

Spencer is wondering what all the racket is outside. The guys are back to finish the decking prep before the pour.

Suggestions for good wireless video camera to record pool build

Brinno is a must if you want to do time lapse. I run a bunch of D-Link cameras around the house for security and use it to monitor real time.

    It's going down for real....

I gotta say - I have always noticed the diagonal mow lines but I have never flown the drone up there after a fresh mow, so I never knew he was moving a pattern. Ha. I totally underestimated the amount of work on the deck framing. I suppose in my mind I know there was a few steps but having...

    It's going down for real....

It would be a little harder to make it wider at this point. BUT I think there's a solution. I'll add another door to the side of the shed, which will be the "back side" of the equipment. This way we an get to it from the front and side. There's room to walk on either side of the pipes. This...

    It's going down for real....

Yeah I have wondered about that. The shed is 8X12. The side for the equipment is larger than the storage side. From the pipes there is about 6' to the wall. So that makes it about a 6'x8' slab for equipment. Hoping that should be decent. Ceiling is 10' or so tall so height should be a problem.

    It's going down for real....

The framers for the decking showed up today. I have to say, I think these guys are true craftsman of their job. The framed everything, squares it up, leveled the ground (still need more fill dirt) all without super fancy machinery. Levels and shovels. Amazing. Three guys. Prep for...

    It's going down for real....

Haha, thanks for the offer! If they don't show tomorrow, then I may be more upset. I mean, it's really first world problems... so it's ok. Plus I know the PB wants this done as much as I want it done. They want to get paid. :)

    It's going down for real....

Unfortunately we got stood up twice my the framer. The plumbers did come back out to put things in for the water falls. The framers for the deck should be out tomorrow. Third time's a charm? Also added more bleach to the water. Hmm. I should test it tomorrow. :)

    It's going down for real....

I try not to be too OCD, but when it's major items that might require tearing up of the decking, I figured they would appreciate me pointing it out. Cheaper to fix it now then later! I got news that they will come out to do the framing tomorrow for the decking. Decking will be poured on...

    It's going down for real....

We had a little work done end of last week. The electricians came out to do some stub out work and bonded the pool. They also did some conduit work for the various electrical work I wanted. Plumbing work is done as well. Well, mostly. They missed the plumbing for the three water falls. They...

    In ground enclosure

I have asked the pool builder to stub out plumbing and electrical before they poured the deck because I want to add an outdoor kitchen in the future. The question is: how do I cover up the stub outs? I was thinking about using an NDS valve box and just pour the concrete decking around the box...
