6 of one dozen, half dozen of the other... pebble surfaces

You'll want to check the particular company's start up process. Wet Edge says to start brushing day one. No wheeled vacuum or robots for a little while. You can vacuum, but with vinyl head vacuum only. I didn't drop my robot in until 30+ days out. The PB didn't vacuum until 2+ weeks in...

    Polaris 9350

The filter is top loading. The main issue with the "lift" process is that you are suppose to press and hold the "Lift" button, let it rotate to the wall of your desire, then let the button go. The robot will then come towards the wall, climb it, stay on top, and you can then pull it out...

    Polaris 9350

Jim, thanks for moving the post. I normally only run the cleaner on need. The last week though it’s been in the pool for 3-4 days. I normally clean it about once a day. It can obviously go longer, but given how easy it is to clean (when I finally get it out of the pool), I just get it...

    Polaris 9350

When our pool got built, the contract included a 9350. To be honest I have never researched pool robots. I frankly thought it was cool enough to have one. Ha. I know Polaris is not as popular here and I haven’t looked into the issues. But I did want to just give a quick review of it, in...

New pool - seeking suggestions on where to go with chemistry

Peirek, There's certainly a possibility that there's an issue regarding the TA testing. I literally just read last night the reason for wiping the tip with a wet paper towel (the static electricity). I'll have to do another test and see what it says and confirm my readings. I'll report back...

Robots That Handle Newer Main Drains

My pool came with a Polaris 9350. Since I didn’t do any research before hand I really wasn’t sure of it’s reputation. But I will say that I have been happy with hours. I changed the filter to the super fine filter and it’s picked up a lot. Two observations: 1) there seems to be a timer that...

New pool - seeking suggestions on where to go with chemistry

Here is the latest. FC: 4 CC: 0 pH: 7.8 TA: 70 CH: 250 CYA: 40 Salt: 3000 CSI: -0.45 Temp: 48 I added a little more chlorine to get it up to 6.

    Freeze protection for Autofill reservoir

tstex - we are in an acreage community. I have two acres. The houses on my side of the street are all 2 acres. We are in Richmond, just south of Great Wood. I thought about putting in a light. But I just didn't have enough time to mess with it. I am hoping this works out... I am thinking...

    South Florida patio pool spiders

I know they are unsightly, but I tend to leave the spiders be. Main reason is being here in Houston we have lots of mosquitos. As annoying as the webs might be I sort of see them as helping me out.

    Freeze protection for Autofill reservoir

Yea I know. Package says 7 hours. I actually got the warmers for the two citrus trees I have. They are cheap. And I think it could help a tad. The trees are covered with large blankets and plastic tarp.

    Freeze protection for Autofill reservoir

Even though I know the auto fill would probably be ok, here is what I did. I took a box and covers the auto fill. Inside the box i put a packet of hand warmer in a bowl. I figured that would raise the air temp right at the auto fill a degree to three. Might do nothing. But might be...

Researching, researching and asking lots of questions

My polaris doesn't reach the corners itself, but I normally brush the pool anyways so it's not a big deal. Yes the corner can create a spot where leaves and such collect, but one way I see it is that it actually makes it easier. It collects there and I don't have to go chase them down.

    Titan Manufacturing/palletforks.com cauldron fire pit

I just checked their site, the 41" is cheaper then even what I paid. I paid $850 shipped. It's only $807 right now, with free shipping.

    It's going down for real....

Not much going on with the pool. Just lots of testing and brushing. Wished I could jump in. A few pictures.

    Pump speeds and run times

    I run my IntelliFlo at 1500rpm for 6 hours a day right now. At 1,500RPM, the pump reports 227watts. Assuming that's true: 227 * 6 * 7 / 1000 = 9.534 kw/h a week. Even at $0.10 (I pay about $0.05-$0.07), that is about $0.95 per week or less than $4 a month. The IC60 is supposed to be about...

    Loose aggregate on new WetEdge

So the Polaris picked up some loose aggregate in the pool. It’s not a lot at all but just enough to see some in the muck. I assume through out normal brushing on a new finish some lose stone is bound to come off. The robot did not get dropped in the water until well after 30 days has passed...

Air temp sensor for Pentair EasyTouch 8 and shed

You mean pool heater? No, we decided no pool heater. Just not that practical IMO to heat the pool. BTW, that's an older picture. I never took one when everything was completed.

Air temp sensor for Pentair EasyTouch 8 and shed

So I have a pool equipment shed built as part of our pool build out. The Pentair is in the shed. The air temp sensor is in the shed. Now the shed has pretty good airflow but when it’s really cold out, the air temp in the shed a few degrees warmer than outside. Not sure what’s gone happen in...

    Over flow drain pipe

Yes, there's a grated cutout on the top of the waterline tile, nothing overly fancy. I will pick up a few pieces and put a pop up on there and call it a day.

Pool light and bubbler light on separate switches?

It’s interesting they want to charge you $600 to do it. I mean they have to run cables to the controller anyway. Then it’s a matter of how it’s wired in the controller. I would say yes wire them separately but ask why it would cost $600.

    Over flow drain pipe

So i have an overflow drain pipe that is coming out the side of the pool. The pool is a good 18”-24” above the rest of the yard. The pipe was never properly finished by the PB. I am curious what’s the best way to deal with it? Should I bring it down to grade and install a pop up on it...

    Wet Edge Choice

We just finished our pool, but it's been too cold to get in there. Satin line has smaller pearls, so in theory, could feel smoother. I think there's a lot of personal taste to that... some people feel the stone/pebble finishes are too rough, while others think it's great.

    Pentair IntelliFlo VS vs VSF

Thanks Marty - thus far, I have left it as VS because it was just simpler to configure. :) Unless there was a compelling reason, I was going to just leave it at that.

    Pentair IntelliFlo VS vs VSF

So when i had the pool built, the contract specified a Pentair IntelliFlo VS pump. When the pump got installed, it was actually an IntelliFlo VSF pump. Currently in EasyTouch 8 it is set up as the VS. A couple of questions please. 1) does it hurt to leave it this way? 2) any advantages or...

    Titan Manufacturing/palletforks.com cauldron fire pit

Yes it sure did. Nice and warm. The bowl heated up as well and radiated heat. One thing I learned: because the grate raised the fire, there is a lot of air circulation so it burned fast. So I needed more fire wood then I thought it was going to take. The projector is made by Using a fire pit...

    Titan Manufacturing/palletforks.com cauldron fire pit

First time lighting the cauldron. It’s a hit! Got a deck protector to make sure no issues with the stamped and colored concrete. I added one of these grates so I can lift the fire a little higher up.

A few pictures. Inspired by some pictures I saw on the forum, I upped my testing game. Help arrived! Deployed to get some leaves. I think the water is pretty clear. Random pic.
