    Is it time?

Yes IC60 is working. I have output set at 50% right now and salt level shows 2900, although test shows 3,000. I plan to add another bag of salt in the pool as well to get me in closer to 3200ppm.

    Is it time?

Is it time to raise the CYA? The pool was finished in December. Brought CYA up to ~30 over the winter and have been TFP’ing it. Now the water temp is generally around 70*, I am thinking it’s time to raise the CYA?

What's more accurate for testing salt level?

For what it’s worth, my Pentair T60 cell can show as much as 400ppm lower in colder water. Above 65, it is closer to actual as measured by K1766 numbers. If you must go by what your cell is saying, I would wait to add more salt till your water temp is closer 70*.

New pool - tolerances from design

IMO, yes. This is a hand made products with big clunky tools. Mine was off a little bit on the depth but I am talking an inch or two here and there. Also the floor isn’t going to be perfectly flat.

    Newbie in Texas

Fellow Houstonian here. New pool just finished in December. Buy the TF-100 kit now, start testing before the summer gets here. It takes a few trues but you quickly get used to it. Since the pool has been finished, I've only ever had to purchase the following for maintenance: - Muriatic Acid...

    Light Placement in Rectangular Pool

All our lights are where your yellow arrows are. We have three Color changing LED. One of the main reason we don’t have any in the red area is we do intent to swim and probably use it most often for that. We didn’t want lights directly in line with the swim path. So that might be a...

    Pool Math........The App

$8 a year. 2 cents a day. That’s $0.02/Day. This site probably help people save way more than $8 a year. If the site provides poor value, stop using it. I for one and happy to pay my $8 and support this forum. $8 per year per sub will hardly make anyone rich. The effort to develop and...

Coldest temp you will swim in?

Our pool was finished in Dec. But even in Houston, it was too cold to swim. We are now breaking out of our strangely cold winter. Pool temp is up 67*. I stepped in today, all the way up to the knee, and while it was cold, it was tempted to swim. So, what is the minimum temp you will jump...

    Titan Manufacturing/palletforks.com cauldron fire pit

The 42" and the tripod does take up a lot of space. So you'll want a pretty decent patio/yard to get it setup and give you room. But it is pretty awesome. I still can't believe that the other company sells it for $3k for their largest version.

    Pool size

When it comes to pools, IMO, bigger is always better (to a point). A freeform pool will be smaller than a rectangular pool of the same dimension. I have a 40X24 rectangular pool and I have 2 acres as well. While it IS a big pool, I would have gone for an even larger one. There's really no...

Marty - somewhat hijacking the thread - if you have SWGC, what should the CSI range be?

    Csi results

As long as you are in the recommended ranges, you are fine. I guess I never looked at it as "better" or "worse", as long as it is in range.

Photos of pools with Pebble Sheen colors?

Jeff - I don’t have Pebble Tec but have Wet Edge. The only thing I can offer is that pictures are sooooo deceptive to the actual colors. Trouble is, different time of day, different amount of sun, clouds, shade on the pool, wind conditions, ALL will impact color. To truly get a gauge, I would...

pentair intellichlor and easytouch expected behavior

In the settings for my EasyTouch, I have the "Chlorinator present" set to no/off. Because I've done that, I don't have that menu option in app to adjust % etc. But when I go out and take a look at the IC60 itself, it appears the unit is operating: the % lights are flashing where I last set it...

    pH question... which is better?

I was curious, all else being equal, is it better to have water that is higher in pH or lower in pH as far as pool longevity goes? My pool is new (water in November) and it tends to like to settle in around 8 ish for the pH. I add acid to bring it back down each week. I probably should do it...

    When the color changes

Question: when testing the water and we are looking for color to change from x to y... are we talking about when it changes and stays changed, or just when it flashes? For example: the TA test says from green to red. If it's green to flash of red (but then goes back to green), I am getting TA...
