What just keeps eating at me is that we have run the pump everyday this week for 5 -6 hours a day with the socks on the returns. Pool stayed clean. Then we take the socks off and within 20 min, we had dirt on the bottom of the pool. So why aren't the socks for the returns so much dirtier?

That is a good thought, but no, that is not possible because they were the exact same pieces just new.

Could brand new sand be channeled? Here is a pic of our filter when we took the sand out about 3 weeks ago. Doesnt look like there are any issues or anything is cracked........and the strange thing is the picture of the 2 skimmer socks....the one on the left was from the return and the one on...

I know, another thread on dirt on the bottom of pool. We have done everything we could think of to fix this problem. We needed a new multiport valve, replaced that the begiinning of this season. Pipe underground was busted, hubby fixed. We installed a new pump and motor about 3 weeks ago...

Those look like the flying ants to me, not the backswimmers. The flying ants usually happen once a year when its mating season for them. I had swarms of them 2 years ago and took me awhile to get them all out of the pool.

I live south of Chicago, IL and we had them either last year or the year before. From what my lawn guy told me, the come out of the ground once a year to mate. Ours happened after a rain also and it was like a plague outside. You couldn't even be out there because there were flying ants...

Is this what they look like? These are the backswimmers. I get them occasionally, but never is swarms.

My town requires a 6 ft. fence around the pool with the ability to lock the gate.

I have had that before. They come out of the ground like once a year for mating and then die. I just poured in a bit more bleach. All those in the pool gave me the heebie jeebies !

We had our liner out about a week before our new one came. I would make sure that you don't have rain in the forecast. Do you have sand bottom? You would not want that getting wet before the new liner comes.

If we put the skimmer socks on the returns, we do not get all of that settling on the floor of the pool. But then the returns do not push the water like you need to, so I have to skim the top of the water more, which I don't mind.

I have that also. Mine is pollen. This time of year, we have the cottonwood trees flying cotton around like its snowing. My sand filter just can't seem to filter all that tiny pollen. I have tried D.E. in the filter, but still doesn't catch it all.

My 14 yr old loves the diving rockets and the adults love the volleyball net. WE have alot of fun with it.

I get debris at the bottom of my pool and it looks similar but mine is pollen. We have alot of cottonweed trees and at times looks like it is snowing. Hard to keep the pool clean this time of year for me.

Thank you...we just got the bricks set there to make sure we had enough....now have to go and level then adhesive the tops down. Love how it looks.
