    Waterfall woes

I have been battling air bubbles sucking in to my main pump for a long time and I believe the culprit is the waterfall pump. If anything is loose at all, the main pump sucks in air bubbles. I’ve changed the lid seal three times in three years of being here, and I just did now again and the...

    Air relief valve broken again

Finally found an OEM in the area. The pressure is surprisingly low, though - 5psi at max speed when right before I changed it, it was 10psi (and is always around that). Maybe I punched a hole in a DE grid?

    Air relief valve broken again

Making a list of all the o-rings to lube, I didn’t realize how many there are. If there’s nothing unique about them, I wonder if McMaster-Carr or someone has them for a lot cheaper? Then I can just order a set every so often.

    Air relief valve broken again

Is there another o-ring besides the one that mates with the filter housing?

    Air relief valve broken again

Cool, thanks. Leslie’s has a Pentair, going to grab that today. Finger crossed my priming woes are almost resolved!

    Air relief valve broken again

The first one was on when I bought the house. It also seems to be leaking out of the valve itself. Prior to the crack, if I closed the valve all the way, it would also leak. A comment on Inyo seems to have the same experience. Maybe the OEM would be better than the CMP?

    Air relief valve broken again

Two years ago I replaced the air relief valve on my Pentair DE filter because of a small crack in the housing where the gauge screws in. This one now has a crack in the exact same place. I noticed the same part number on Inyo now looks completely different. Anybody have a suggestion for a...

    VS Motor Swap

After much more troubleshooting, I think I have at least found a majority of the issue. My waterfall feature has to be primed (there are some problems with it so I have left it turned off). I had primed it before but it must be losing prime way faster lately. Now I have the small bubble at the top!

    VS Motor Swap

We just disassembled the back assembly and relubed the diffuser O-rings and backplate o-ring, and went ahead and relubed the lid and plugs. Torqued the bolts to just over 10ft-lbs this time. There is still a huge air gap under the lid, I attached some pictures while it’s running. Air bubbles are...

    VS Motor Swap

It’s super tight, but in any case, I wrapped it with plastic to see if that would seal it as @mknauss suggested and it didn’t help, so I figure I should leave it alone. I’m suspicious that the backplate o-ring is not sealing.

    Circupool Edge-25 Leaks

So we doused the whole thing with MagicLube and carefully squared up the SWCG to the coupler flange and had to keep an eye on it as we screwed the inlet coupler on all the way. Then we screwed the outlet coupler on. Seems to not leak right now. I’m not confident it will last through the summer...

    VS Motor Swap

Tried the soap bubble test but I think it’s all air coming out of the housing from the fan (it’s pointed toward the backplate so all the air heads that way).

    VS Motor Swap

I followed the backplate torque recommendation (10ft-lbs). Could the backplate just need to be tightened up? It’s hard to tell if I feel air coming out of that or their or housing because it’s so strong but one spot on the backplate does seem to have air coming out of it.

    Circupool Edge-25 Leaks

No dice, although I can flex the entire assembly up and that seems to help. Maybe it’s too heavy for an in-line pipe?

    VS Motor Swap

All wrapped, no change. Went ahead and wrapped everything above ground on the supply side besides the pump itself. No change. Oh boy, is it possible that a broken pipe underground is causing this? Is there any way to check the motor seals to make sure they are sealed all the way? I used the...

Man that coupler is on tight. Going to need a strap wrench to get it loose, I think.

    VS Motor Swap

We put Magiclube II on the basket lid, drain plugs, diffuser, and backplate. Only one I didn’t relube is the inlet coupler. I’ll give that a shot.

    Circupool Edge-25 Leaks

Oh yeah, plenty of it. I can take both sides of the pipes and push them together and the leak gets better. Back in August we actually took a ratchet strap and tightened it up and it sealed a bit better. That’s a good idea, I thought maybe these o-rings were a special rubber to deal with the...

    Circupool Edge-25 Leaks

I’ve tried to troubleshoot this with the company, but they were not sure what to do besides send me a new o-ring. Ever since I have had this SWCG, it’s had a slow leak. You can visibly see the misalignment between the coupler and the housing when the coupler is screwed on. I can disconnect the...

Gotcha. It is a big bubble and it’s spewing bubbles out of the return. Is this a supply side seal issue?
