    Pentair 4x160

Hi all, In the midst of a build here, and expecting equipment to be installed sometime between today and Christmas. Hopefully closer to today though. I wish I had a better handle on the way the equipment is to be installed, but knowledge and communication don't seem to be my PB's strong...

How to First Start Your Gunite Pool

ok... if you thought I was going to tell you how to do this... you were wrong. I'm still in the build process, and I'm thinking that if my PB is as involved and detailed in my start-up phase as he has been during the rest of the build, I might be in trouble. So for you knowledgable folks out...

    Stakemans pool build

Sounds like the right way to start a pool build. Looks like a very nice design in a very pretty yard. Where is Spring, TX? Also, enjoy the quick progress... it may or may not continue. From what I've seen locally, and on this board is the nice rush on the front end to to dig and pour, then...

Ok..I'll bite. What does the salt corrode?

Based on my past... I'm not averse to risk. I definately will seal the bricks & mortar. I have a 6 y.o. lil girl who I hope will be splashing around with her friends. If she's not, I'll be most disappointed. Truly there's risk in everything, right? Just a matter of management.... (at...

    SteveNbr's pool build

Wow... you know your pool build is moving slowly when you have to scroll to page 2 just to find your own thread. When I was beginning to wonder if there would EVER be any more work done on my pool, and if I may have to begin the work myself.... there was a stranger in my backyard at 6:15 this...

Ok..I'll bite. What does the salt corrode?

I'm not sure where to post my comments, or questions on this subject, but this looks as good as any... We're in the midst of a pool build... ACTUALLY had progress today, which hasn't been seen from my PB in over a month. Waterline tile was installed today. Coping scheduled to be installed...

    Pentair Intelliflow

Sorry to hear about your Intelliflo blues. I was considering getting the same pump, but have decided to go with the 4x160, although I'm not sure that I will get to bypass any of the issues that you're having either. In my line of work, we sell microprocessor based control valve positioners...

Any new pools for the slideshow?

It might be me... or might be my computer... or maybe my browser? but all I get to see of the slide show is pics that are really small, and for some reason are almost always little pics of the sky or roofs..... or is it rooves? any theories on my abbreviated visuals?

    Wardsntx Pool build

Very nice looking design, Ward. Not too different than the one we're trying to build. Ours won't have the nifty waterfall and slide though. Similar size though, and spa with wide spillover. Enjoy your project. Might as well. When its done, all you can do is swim and maintain it.

Hydraulics 101 - Have you lost your head?

Thank for your thoughtful reply, Mark. Getting a schematic from the PB might be possible. That's a BIG might. I wonder how much he really knows about anything, and I certainly wonder about how much he knows is actually going on at any particular build. His regular plumber didn't run these...

Hydraulics 101 - Have you lost your head?

Thanks again, Mark. Here's the pipe (and how it's labeled) at the equipment pad: MD Pool 2" Skimmer 2" Skimmer 2" MD Spa 2" MD Spa 2" Pool Return 2" Spa Return 2" Spa Return 2" Spa Jet 2" Air 2" Polaris 1.5" Here's what I see in the pool: (2) Main Drains (2) Skimmers (3) Returns (1)...

    Wardsntx Pool build

Congrats!! Guess what... tomorrow will be filled with regrets. Don't sweat it. It'll get worse. Much eventually, I hear it will get better... again... so I hear. Relax and enjoy... (if possible.) While you wait... tell us about what you're building.

Hydraulics 101 - Have you lost your head?

Hi Mark and Anyone else who might care, I'm back. And as you state in your post above, calculating the head loss on a future pool is nearly impossible... especially when the estimator..... ain't too smart. So in my quest to determine if its important enough to make my PB re-do the pipes that...

Hydraulics 101 - Have you lost your head?

Thanks for all the info, Mark. I've been wanting to calculate my pump/pipe needs, but haven't, primarily due to not having all the resources in one place. At least you have all the instructions to determine it in one place. Based on your basics, and another thread that you just posted (on pvc...

    Rogerbrks new build

Roger, Trying to figure out if your decking is multi-color, or do the pics just make it appear that way? Do you know exactly what deck product it is? and how do you like it? The decking is still the hardest decision for me, and isn't settled in my mind yet... Thanks, Steve

    ktdave's pool build

good to see some progress for you, dave. Nice selections too. Good choice of tile to pull the water and the coping together. Good bit of rain over this way too... but not enough to cause the delay we're enduring... hope your progress results in some momemtum for you!! Enjoy!

    Kinda Strange...

Hi Aggie, In Baton Rouge here, and for whatever reason, we're seeing hundreds of dragonflies around here this year. No pool associaition over here, as I've seen a lot more at my office, whichi is near woods and a pond. I think its just a big year for the pretty little creatures. Maybe they...

    SteveNbr's pool build

Still slow as Christmas here. I told myself from the get-go that I wasn't going to get impatient, that I knew building this time of year would require patience as labor is spread thin, and demand is great. I keep telling myself that, meanwhile letting my pb feel my true anxiety. (not that it...

Suggestion to remove top TFP graphic.

I think you better put Sean's logo back up there before he wakes up. He put a lot of time and thought into that logo. To most of us, its just a logo, and we'll be here with or without that box at the top of the page. He started this site, and surely has goals for it, and part of that is the...
