    ktdave's pool build

Dave, If you're still here, don't let that hose lay on your plaster all night if you can help it. I did, and it left a line.. which I eventually brushed out... but would've been easier not to have it. Just let the hose sit on the edge and shoot into the water if it's still running. Enjoy!

    ktdave's pool build

Sweet indeed... As my lil girl (6 yo) and I were swimming together this afternoon... I was thinking how much time we'll get to spend together due to this project... even as painful as it was. Looks like some happy girls you got there too!!! I'm happy for you!

thanks for the request... I know I owe one. We took our first lil swim last Thursday... and have had several since then. they finally cleaned all the trash that looked like a dump, Saturday. My pb is soooo on the ball. here's what we have left, 11 days after plaster: install pool lights...

When & how long to auto-vac?

My pentair legend isn't quite hooked up yet, (as is the case with a few things on my pool), and while I wait, I'm trying to figure out when things will work. My general question is, When and how long do you run your robot vacuum? Obviously, this will vary by the amount of trash landing in the...

Pool Electronics and its Susceptibility to Lightning Storms

Hi Triple, I'm still in the getting started/installation stage, and was having a conversation with my electrician just a few days ago. He was in the process of installing my pentair easytouch box, with my 4x160, and asked me if I planned on getting a "Strikesafe" installed? In my area, one of...

Outdoor Fans - Needs to move air

Sorry for all the duplicate posts. If you get a DEBUG Message, it DID post, don't keep fighting with it. Here's the link for the machine I mentioned above... and no, I don't sell them, or even own one (yet), but worth looking at. So called waycool cooling machine Steve

Outdoor Fans - Needs to move air

Obviously, you were thinking in the lines of a ceiling fan, and that wil help. I have a friend who has 2 water cooled fans. I'm not sure if they're just water cooled, or they actually emit water mist. I'm pretty sure that you it doesn't emit the water. Hers machines are big, about...

My water is green not blue, how can I fix that?

For some reason, many owners have said that their newly plastered pools have green tint for the first few days. Mine was the same way, eventually turning seriously cloudy blue, due to heavy brushing of blue plaster and no pump/filter running. (As I type, there's someone outside plumbing my...

    Garden Web

No alienation to me. Both forums serve a purpose. If they didn't they'd be empty. For the last few months, as I've waited for my pb's subs to show up, I've needed a few forums to satisfy my thirst. As this one grows (largely as others hear of it while reading other forums, such as GW) one...

Spillover spa - Is it possible

Sounds like a regional thing to me. In south Louisiana, the norm seems to be to share one system... then again, freezes are rare, and many people never close their pool/spa. One thing you'll learn quickly about pb's is that they want to sell you what they're comfortable with. Two systems keep...

    Garden Web

I like GW. My pool knowledge (albeit limited) was scavanged from every sight I could find... including GW. I agree that this forum has more of a collection of experts (at least in the area of water chemistry), but so be it. That doesn't make those folks that post there inferior to you few...

    SteveNbr's pool build

Serious progress in the last week and a half... Now, IF I just had some pool equipment... (yes, a pump, filter, lights... simple stuff like that...) my PB is going to annoy the heck out of me until the last ounce of energy is dispersed (not sure whether it's my energy or his) my turn will...

Acrathane (by MCP) deck coating, know it?

Anyone have or know about Acrathane deck coating, made by Multi-Coat Products? Seems to be used by a few different builders around here. Most importantly, mine on my job. Just curious for any feedback on it. On a side note, the people doing the install (who also did my tile/coping/concrete...

    SteveNbr's pool build

Thanks Arizona, The rain really hasn't been an issue for us so far. It has been raining a little almost every day, but not enough to stop progress. Our progress has only been hindered by lack of.... people doing work. This week has been the most hectic for me, which I HOPE will be a good...

Cool Dave, You've suffered from stagnation long enough (and I know bc I've been sufferin' too.) I was wondering if either of us would get to swim this summer... (ok, I was mostly concerned if I would.) Had a little action on mine this week, too. Your concrete looks good... can't wait to your...

    Super Big Umbrella.... Experience anyone?

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. I see that Sam's online has one simlar to that, but doesn't mention the lights, for $429. The one that I saw also had lights... but not $1200 worth of lights... I'll do a search on Wanda... see if I can find her.

    Super Big Umbrella.... Experience anyone?

We're in need of Instant Shade! might do the pergola thing, but saw one of those 11.5' umbrellas, with the offset stand today, and it looked pretty cool. it was about $1500, and guessing one could find many online for a little less. anyone own one? price? effectiveness, easy to use, other...

    Pictures of pool stuff

I'd like to see one on overlaid decking (koolkrete, spraydeck, etc) Maybe a big pic, and a close-up. A thread of them would be sooo nice. I'll be able to offer mine in a few weeks, perhaps. Steve

Seems like a good idea to me... You might could even have a "good example" and a "bad example".... if you dare. You gonna post all these pics in one thread, or you think you can get Sean to create a Forum called Pool Stuff Pics? Those canucks.... smarter than we give em credit fer...

Remodeled - spillway ok - but vac won't move

249rose, Can you post a pic of your spillway, or at least, describe what you think was the problem/solution with the spillover. Getting ready to do one here too, and would like to know your experience. Thanks, Steve

    SteveNbr's pool build

It's been a very good Fourth at our house. After being disappointed in no workers showing up Monday and Tuesday, I resorted to forget about them for a day and install shelves in a lil storage room on the back side of my house that I have never touched. Pretty sure it'll be full of backyard and...

    VERY Wide Spillover..... ???

thanks guys, Yes, the heat loss, in my unexperienced opinion should be a definite plus. This is my first pool, but in south La, one of the things that we seem to battle is water that gets TOO warm. So warm that it is a big consideration in plaster color selection. I've thought about the...

    VERY Wide Spillover..... ???

Ok.... after a few month of planning, and a few months of building, I'm down to the last opportunity to make changes (with out spending tons in re-work) One thing that I'm doing different than most, and it's certainly not THAT unusual, but thought that I should ask about it before it's too...
