Chris, Needsajet has a valid point. I have your same pool and when I first installed it I had no overhang at all. If there is any wave action or people jumping into these smaller pools water pours up and over the top. If you don't do any overhang just be prepared for it.

Those are almost certainly superficial cracks in the gelcoat layer only and are not actual leaks. I would discourage drilling because then you are creating actual holes in the shell. What it really needs is a new gelcoat layer but if you want to just fill the cracks get a two part boat fairing...

I would have to disagree that the install went well. Fiberglass pools are not supposed to be propped up with wood beams and filled up with water before backfilling. The entire base of the pool should be leveled on a smooth gravel or sand base and the pool should be backfilled with sand or gravel...

Post some pics. It's certainly doable and might make sense if the pool shell is in good shape. Most of the issues that you are describing sound like the pool was not installed properly to begin with.
