Where do you get regular bleach?

I put in a Jacuzzi spa and a pool about 17 years ago. My pool had a SWCG from day one. The spa used a bromine dispenser which I hated compared to my pool. About four years ago I bought a SmarterSpa Controlomatic as a SWCG for my spa and I love it.

Where do you get regular bleach?

And it vastly reduces the amount of maintenance that you have to do on your pool. Once your pool is set for the season in terms of CYA, etc then you may just need to add some acid from to time to reduce pH. No lugging of Chlorine. No splashback from the chlorine that bleaches your clothes.

Where do you get regular bleach?

My local pool shop has a huge cylindrical container of Chlorine and refillable jugs. The price is about the same as the big box stores. But the best answer to this question is get a SWCG and you won't have to worry about lugging chlorine.

    Feature Suggestion - Permanent Notes

One feature that I would find helpful is having permanent notes stored in the app. These would be notes that wouldn't be on the timeline, but in another area so you don't lose them when you have dozens of entries in your timeline. What I am thinking is notes for stuff like reminders on what to...

Is getting a cartridge really an upgrade?

Personally I like the never having to backwash aspect of cartridge filters. That also means you aren't dumping salt if you have a salt pool which will dilute your salt concentration over time.

Is getting a cartridge really an upgrade?

It is best to take them out for a full cleaning, but I will sometimes just hose them off in place as well which makes the process a bit quicker.

Can someone explain the Dolphin product lineup?

On Amazon (Amazon Canada to be exact) I see Dolphin robots like the Premium 10, Premium 20 and Premium 60. But when you go to pool shops you see different models like the S200, S300, etc. Are these the same products but they are using different model numbers to make it harder to comparison...

Any downside to running pool pump at night?

It is hard to say as I have an EV so my bill is driven by how much I drive and how much my AC runs. But running my pool pump overnight save about $0.25/hr vs running in the peak time of 4-9pm. So that saves about $40/month. I also try to shift other usage out of the prime time - like having...

Any downside to running pool pump at night?

No, I haven't had any issues at all with that. I run it about 13 hours per day from 11pm to noon. If you are running 9 hours then I would do 11pm to 8am or so. You could run it more on weekends if you have a more sophisticated timer that lets you do different schedules based on day of week.

Can I connect a suction side cleaner to my vacuum plate? (Kreepy Krauly type of cleaner)

I didn't know those canisters existed. They make sense but seem kind of expensive for what they are.

Can I connect a suction side cleaner to my vacuum plate? (Kreepy Krauly type of cleaner)

The way that I was taught to connect my suction side cleaner was to take out the skimmer basket and plug it in to the drain under the skimmer basket that goes to the pump. This way the debris flows into the pump basket. Emptying the pump basket is far more of a PITA than emptying the skimmer...

Has anyone every had their solar cover blow away?

I will do that, but right now there are proper seams at the end. If I cut it so that it fully fits within the pool then I will be cutting right through the bubbles - is that ok.

Has anyone every had their solar cover blow away?

Mine is a little bit to big so it doesn't lie flat on the water, there is a bit that bulges up. My pool is slightly irregularly shaped - so I got a rectangular cover and cut it into two squares.

Has anyone every had their solar cover blow away?

I haven't had mine blow away, but it has been blown up into a heap within the pool. But it seems to me that if you get a really strong windstorm you could see it flying away - has that ever happened to anyone?

    New OB RPi Set Up

Thanks for posting all of this, and keep it coming. I do a bit of DIY automation with Sonoff switches flashed with Tasmota that are controlled by my Control4 Home Automation system, but I would like to move to more of what you are doing here.

I have an old Kreepy Krauly that I may use for now. If the Aipers worked for at least 4-5 years then they might be an option.

    Dolphin S300 having troubles

Thanks, I have been following the threads on the Aiper but it isn't clear to me if they last for very long. But I think that they are much cheaper than the Dolphin. I think the Dolphins are well over $1000 in Canada.

    Dolphin S300 having troubles

I have a Dolphin S300 robot that is now six years old. It has had some repairs done in the past. Yesterday it started giving me trouble. It would run for about 10 seconds, do a wheelie and then stop. The blue light would turn off. When I connect via Bluetooth it has shown me three different...

    Skimmer flaps

Isn't the many reason for the flaps to keep the debris from going from the skimmer area to the pool when the pool is shut off? If you don't shut off your pump then do you need one? Or if you always try to empty the skimmer before the pump shuts off. Mine wouldn't stay on either as the...

Bug in scrolling on iOS PoolMath Test Results screen with keyboard displayed

There appears to be a bug when the keyboard is displayed. I can't scroll down to the lower part of the screen to enter the parameters at the bottom. I have to hit Done to make the keyboard go away and then click in the data box. For example, temperature shows up as the last data point. I...

Replacing flow switch in Jacuzzi tub

I replaced it last night, just the switch. I played around with the old one after I took it out. While I still had the old switch plugged in to the control board and I squeezed the switch togetherand I still still got FL1 errors, so it seems like the old switch was faulty. Once I plugged in...

    Pool bar/storage

I have something similar, except the bar area has three doors that lift up and kind of act as canopies. But then they can close up to enclose the bar/kitchen area. I have a TV on an extendible mount that can be pulled out and viewed from the pool and pool area.

Replacing flow switch in Jacuzzi tub

I keep getting FL1 and FL2 errors in my tub so I am going to replace the flow switch. Do I need to replace the full plastic housing or can I just unscrew the bit with the sensor (the black part in the photo) and replace that part and keep using the existing clear plastic housing? The part that...

    Fixing coping

In case anyone is interested here are the after photos. It seems pretty good, but the back corner of the coping stone is a bit too high, I should have used a mallet or something to lower it about 1/4 of an inch. The stone also seems to not quite be lined up with the adjacent stone, but there...
