What did you do to your pool today?

Speaking of chores, it’s time to clean and stain the fence. The price of stain is just staggering these days. Sigh.

Preparing to open for the 1st time

If the pump isn’t running you’ll want to run the pump for 24 hours to ensure the water is mixed prior to testing. CYA test needs to be at room temp for best results.

Student: Trying to Learn Where People Purchase Pool Supplies

I will be swapping my hoses for pvc on my pool. I will go to the local pool builder to rifle through their parts to see what will work. If the price is acceptable I’ll purchase from them. If not I’ll know what to look for elsewhere. Just like anything else. I don’t think there’s a hard fast...

My guess would be where one can find the best value for what they’re looking for.

    CYA level/other chemical stuff

It’s a 1:1 ratio. If you need to remove half the cya you’ll need to replace half your water.

Need salt testing advice, want to try something new

It should last you an entire season and into the next before needing to replace due to age. You really don’t need to test salt very frequently unless you are constantly adding water due to splash out or some sort of leak. Water evaporation won’t lower the salt content.

Strange winter so far for me

I’m curious as to how deep the ice is under my cover. I haven’t been able to drain the cover in quite some time, as it doesn’t get much sun even when it is shining. It’s been a rough stretch the past 1+ weeks. To think it was 67 on 2/1 😂

    Above ground

My guess is you’re trying to fit it to an existing structure/deck. One could do it with the appropriate material and equipment.

    Is CYA always this weird?

Down side of elevated CYA is you have to keep your FC elevated to be effective. At some point it becomes prohibitive along several avenues.

Waterway has a variable speed and multiple voltage pump for above ground pools. May as well check it out. Now might be a time to see some savings.

I just picked up a 4# bag of Clorox brand for $19.97 at the local Wally World.

    Transitioning to Liquid Chlorine

At this point, treat it like a full closing by dosing Cl up to SLAM and cover. Whatever you come back to is what you come back to.

    First time testing

Regarding pH, any FC reading over 10 renders the pH test useless. Wait until FC below 10 to measure your pH.

Rip in winter cover above pool pillow

I have two years out of mine, and I’m happy in a twisted sort of way. 50 years ago my childhood home used the same cover for 10 years. I’d rather not have to buy another but that just isn’t the way the economy is geared for the last 30 years.

I knew I was Pool Stored when...

The closest Leslie’s to me is 2 hours away. There’s more than enough pool stores in the local area, though. I use them for parts and pieces. I wish I had a mom and pop store. Our local Ace just sold out not too long ago and is no longer local. Sigh.
