Chlorine cost with very high temperatures

Has anyone been tracking the prices of SWCG units and replacement cells since 2020? With rising chlorine prices, economic inflation and now recent trade limitations on rare earth metals I expect we will be seeing significant price pressue moving forward. :shark:

    So...So Much Chlorine

You FC loss of 4ppm is on the high side but not uncommon at peak season with frequent use. Keeping FC always in the target zone is critical now and stay well above the minimum., You may have a low level algae population which you can diagnose tonight. . If you pass then you can slightly raise...

    So...So Much Chlorine

Peak season FC loss can get up to 4ppm and adding liquid chlorine daily is expected. Are you and others using the pool each day? Run an with your test kit to be sure all is well. Wait until you pass the OCLT then calculate how much CYA needed to raise your level by 5ppm and see if that helps...

Wildfire smoke — effect on pool chemistry?

Wood ash mineral composition is primarily Calcium, Carbon and Potassium. Less Mn, Mg and Phosporus. So Calcium Carbonate 25%+, Potash <10% and 1% or less Phosphate. A bunch of trace minerals also so consider the advantages and breath in your vitamins.

    120v Stand Alone SWCG?

Raising your FC with liquid then letting your SWCG maintain is the best practice. Time is important now, getting behind has consequences. Relying on a 15% increase with your cell to make a big step up in FC during peak season is a mistake, my opinion. Do adjust your cell to stay up with or...

Hello from Northern Indiana - Algae help

Bill My primary concern would be your now high salt ppm and the possible negative effects on your expensive SWCG. You would need to drain 50% of your pool water and refill (with non well water or high iron will become a bigger problem) to have your salt level at 3200-3400ppm. Do you have a...

    120v Stand Alone SWCG?

I expect CPs output rating stated at 3.1# for 24hrs at 100% is exaggerated but do you stand by your 2#/day claim, is this a tested result? https://www.circupool.com/CircuPool%C2%AE-RJ-60-PLUS-Salt-Chlorine-Generator_p_25.html

Hello from Northern Indiana - Algae help

Are you testing the salt levels with your test kit? If so why are you adding salt now and above 6700ppm? You are setting yourself up for a partial drain and refill to lower salt ppm. What is the salt ppm recommended for your SWGC? If you drain this will also require adjusting your water...

Lower water to waste, DE in pool

Using a small inexpensive standalone submersible pump attached to a garden hose to lower your water instead of using your pool pump would avoid this issue. Not sure of your pump/filter valve set up but the new Multiport valves appear to have a position that will flush the line before switching...

New pool owner. High CYA could use some help

Dilute a sample of your pool water 50/50 with your tap water and run the CYA test. Double the result to confirm your current CYA ppm. Don't wait until you have already drained 1/2 your pool and refilled that your 120ppm CYA was incorrect and you still have high CYA.

How critical is having high CYA in a SWG pool?

Stay in well into your target zone with your FC before and after your party, I would suggest getting a couple of gallons of liquid chlorine (no additives) on hand now and be proactive with your FC levels with frequent testing. Have a fun time with your clean pool.

Pool floor: how long between robot runs?

I run mine once a week on average. Wind events are a debris driver and I avoid a bot run if big wind is in the short term forecast. Sometimes I run it twice when pool is trashed with debris, dirt or fire ash after heavy accumulation. I do clean the surface and bottom of my pool often with my...

Funny but actually informative video on pee in the pool. :-)

Yes this is an interesting use of testing an additive in our modern diet found now in pool water to provide accurate estimates on how much human waste is introduced. The estimates I've read of the amount of fecal material introduced in public pools is more concerning. Bidets should be...

Is 2100 ok for pump 24/7?

I too have a SuperFlo pump and it is limited to only three programmed settings so choose wisely. Each pool is also unique so it is impossible to recommend the best setting for you as that will require knowing your system requirements then testing and observing. My pump runs 1.5 hours at 2200...

Help! Low calcium level in pool

I just saw you have the Taylor K-2005 test kit. Be aware this kit has an upper limit on your ability to test FC levels and is not as precise as the FAS-DPD test. If you get behind the curve and develop an algae problem you will be unable to use the and clear your pool water properly. You...

Help! Low calcium level in pool

The good news is your vinyl pool does not need calcium like a plaster pool. You need to keep your FC up into the proper range for your CYA When your pH gets to 8 add MAcid to bring pH down to middle 7s and over time your TA will drop, no stress and easy. Test your fill water for TA and pH.
