What did you do to your pool today?

I guiltily looked at my now open and clear pool as the snow fell, hoping Marian doesn't come north to find me and devise retribution for decimating the spring warmth :)

I just have to go West from Detroit to get to you!
My sister was trying to take the blame but I let her know YOU were the real culprit! :punkrock:
Beautiful day today though. :sun:

That's OK Toofast, 50 usually works pretty well for regular (non SWG) pools.

You ladies are messing up my weather down here! Had a cold front blow in yesterday and it was 40 at my house this morning. NOT good! It's May...not :santa:

I know it's off-topic but here's what I did yesterday. Had a pesky minor drip leak on the o-ring of my top-mount multiport valve. Removed the top (thank you unions I installed last year!), lightly lubricated the o-ring with good old Magic Lube and reseated the valve. NO LEAKS! Then I tried out my new pool brush, the Stanley plastic bristle model. Worked well and no stray bristles like my old one was dropping. I found A LOT of those bristles floating in my skimmers and even on the top of my sand filter water.

Tested my CYA finally. Lighting was not ideal but I was getting 40 CYA. Since I closed last year at about 30 CYA and drained about 1/5 of my pool volume, this was quite a surprise. My only guess is that when I had the pool company close my pool, they put in some dichlor even though I said NO CHEMICALS. ******* pool stores. I'll check the CYA again when I have better light but ARGH. On the upside, I don't have to buy any CYA this spring to bring it up, but there's not much wiggle room now if I need to pop in some floaters this summer when I'm out of town. Guess who's closing the pool this year!

Took the time to properly install my railings and ladder. I ran an extension cord out to the pool and used a shop vac to suck all the accumulated needles, stones ... out of the cups that the railings fit into so they go all the way in now !!
Then scooped out a glob of grease with my finger and applied it to the inside of the fitting. Rubbed it around good getting it spread all the way around. They all slipped in really easy and I'm looking forward to not having to fight them trying to get them out this fall.
Last year I noticed the plastic trim rings had been getting a bit yellow and used a plastic spray paint to whiten them up again.

Forgot to grease my ladder! Thanks for the reminder. Liking the paint idea too.

I labored taking some pictures today. After much sweeping and roboting the last few days this is the water. Have only brought up FC levels to maintenance.

Still some fine sediment but almost there!

I can't remember if it was a year or if it was two ?? That plastic paint holds up great and really makes a difference from the old yellow stuff.
I think I did satin but next time I would go for gloss.

Paint prep consisted of running them through the dishwasher and then using coffee filters to prop them up on to spray.

JVTrain, what's your temp ??

Well down here in Sunny SW Florida..what did I do to my pool today? SWIM!!! and watch the kids SWIM, just like we did back in March, February and heck some polar bears did in January!! I see much talk of "covers" and removing them...this is foreign to me. Water Temp hovering right around 81ish -unless of course we fire up the hot tub!! But on a serious note we did have a down pour which threw down my chlorine a bit...and caused a dirt ring to form because it washed all the dirt from my screened enclosure into the pool. Nothing a little "great value" bleach couldn't fix !
