I have a Sta-Rite PLM 150. It's pretty old. Has to be original and I'm guessing we are 15-20 years on this pool. I was having issues getting the lid/cover on it. I decided to replace the o-ring. The lid simply won't fit on there with the o-ring. New one or old one. It's like the housing is warped or something. I'm so confused. It works just fine so would hate to replace the whole thing if there are other ideas. Thanks!

Which model O-ring did you order? Try filling the bottom tank with water, then close the air relief valve and open the drain at the bottom. This will create a suction effect between the lid and the bottom tank. Ensure the O-ring is well-lubricated.
