CYA Test Kit

You need more than the CYA test if you have the 6 way.
Best value is to buy a complete test kit from TFTestkits.net. TF100 is the basic kit.

How many cya tests is the TF100 able to do?
There is a nice table in the attached article that compares the number of tests. The most important is the FAS-DPD, that is the one you will do most often. CYA once a month is normally plenty

That is perfect! Thank you. I just refilled my pool and the other tests are easy enough to do, but since the cya can take so long to dissolve and get distributed it would be helpful to be able to do more than 1 or 2 right now.

Geday vegaschef, welcome to TFP. :)

I was given something similar to that 6way as part of our startup kit. It’s better than the strips but not as good as a real kit.

There is a bunch of places that sell kits and reagents. You can get an 8oz bottle of CyA reagent from TFTestKits for ~$14.00.

But the OTO test in the 6way tests both free chlorine, FC, and combined chlorine, CC’s, which is not good enough. TFKits has the FAS/DPD kit.

The 6way hardness test measures both magnesium and calcium, you want a calcium hardness, CH, kit that only measures calcium. I can’t vouch for the quality of the pH and total alkalinity, TA, reagents in the 6way, not all reagents are equal.

A complete kit is the most cost effective but I would also take a look at the SpeedStir or Smart Stir. These are worth every penny. They do the swirling while you do the counting.

There is a bit of a learning curve in the beginning but it quickly becomes second nature, like driving home. Have a read through pool school articles.
