I took the day off work yesterday to accomplish this.
I let my free chlorine drop before I started to prevent any adverse reactions.
Added Doheny's super algaecide plus (2 FL oz more than instructed for initial dose). I then spent about 8 hours skimming my life away and got over six 5 gallon buckets of soupy sludge out. (Brushing continuously to kill as much as possible). Once the algaecide lessened its output there was still so much debris that I couldn’t skim due to it being so fine so I added clarifier to clump it up to resume my skimming marathon.
Not done yet but dang what a difference.
