Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! **RESURRECTED FOR 2025!**

I really am considering some water bags or sand bags this year on the edges of the cover
Some folks have had success with 3/4 or 1 inch foam rope under the perimeter. It was more for leaves but a barrier is a barrier. The Home stores have reels of it pretty cheap. Here's 600ft for $81 at TSC.

Last Wednesday evening wife and I pulled the winter cover and then rolled out the solar cover. We didn't have time to do anything else that evening since we needed to add water. Next couple days it rained. This picture is from last Saturday when I had time to finish opening, and vaccuming. All went well, equipment all up and running, added some liquid Chlorine I had left over from last season. It's always encouraging to open it up and th water is crystal clear. If it wasn't so frigid I'd have been tempted to get my suit on and jump in. I stood in the water by the steps for a bit and I'm guessing it's probably around 50 degrees. I was very pleased with the water conditon and the reltively low amount of leaves in the pool.

Today or tomorrow, I'll test the water and see where we stand there. Then it's just a matter of waiting for the water to warm up for swimming!

My three year old can't wait, I had to stop her from going out to the pool. She had just a diaper on and arms full of pool toys :ROFLMAO:

No pic, my pool looks like any other green pool.
Opened yesterday to a green pool, which I was expecting as opening late.
I closed Nov. 20, and peeked under the cover late March/early April and it was pretty clear.
Life got in the way and I did not open, and now its green.
Water temp only 54 (was 39 out last night)

PH..7.8
CYA..30
Salt..2500
Not to bad, I held alot of Salt and cya this year, off to slam, hoping it goes quick

Bought a new house in November with an existing pool so I'm opening someone else's close. I sold my old house to my brother who informed me his pool (my old pool) was crystal clear at open. 😞 Missing my old pool a little extra today.

Looks like you lost some water over the winter 😳

So long as the liner stays tight upon refilling, it did you a favor and there is that much less SLAM after.
I've been saying the same thing about the lack of water hehe! The liner is tight and there are no signs of water around the pool. Any other red flags I should be looking out for? I'm at about 2 feet of water currently.20250509_175814.jpg

2 ft is great and thats how it looked in the pic so I was hoping it wasn't playing tricks on me. Somewhere between 18 and 12 inches the liner will usually start pulling from the corners and it doesnt like going back neatly. You should be fine.

If you want expert level...... i'd match the pump and fill and exchange as much of what's left as I could without lowering it further. Then you'd have a baby slam at the end and not a half slam.

You dont even want to know how that chemical soup is going to test once its refilled, half diluted. Lol. My inherited above ground had a 360ish CYA.
