Took cover off to an almost empty pool.

You have a leak. It was probably out of the light based on where the water level stabilized.

Liner may or may not straighten once you fill it with water.

I guess my other question would be. Its a 27K gallon, and I probably need to replace the liner anyway.

1) How hard is it to DIY, on a liner. I see Doheny's has them, and they are reasonable, but was wondering what skill level is involved.
2) what is a fair price to have someone replace? Does anyone know of reputable installers that could do this in Maryland? Im up near Frederick.

Thanks

I opened my pool to this pretty site. Looks like I have a hole, and my liner is pretty old, so I probably should replace. Its about a 27k gallon pool

1) How hard is this as a DIY project? I see sites like Doheny's has liners, but want to know what skill level I need. and also are there any better places to buy.
2) About how much should something like this cost if I were to hire someone and does anyone know in good installers in Maryland, around Frederick?

Thanks
Don

Liner can be DIY'd, if you have one or two helpers to help you stretch it in as the pool fills. You generally want to fill the pool up to just below your stairs while walking and stretching the liner into the floor and corners, then cut in stairs, lights, return, and skimmer, and then finish filling. Usually a 2-day process.

But cost is high and probabiliy of a mistake when cutting in stairs and even smaller fixtures is huge, so I'd just hire a local installer to do the job. It'll cost more than DIY, but less than screwing it up.

No personal experience, but our trusted owner of the local automatic pool cover service company recently recommended these folks in Inwood WV, who may also service Frederick, MD. The guy recommending TLC has been around pools here for several decades and has always been a gem to work with.

The hardest and most important part is the measurement of the liner to make sure the new one fits.

It is a LOT of work to install a liner BUT first you may have to work on the bottom of the pool. You won't know until you can see what it looks like.

There are a lot of videos showing how to install liners. If you decide to do it your self we can cheer you on!

Do a liner can be done, but it takes some special equipment and know how.
I'm (I *think*) one of the more advanced DIY people, and that is not a project I would handle.
It is not likely a standard pool size/shape the Dohey's will have, I'd rather have someone else measure and order that know what they are doing...
2022 price for measuring, ordering and installing was $5500 in Ohio...if that helps.
Call around and get a couple quotes.
