My Jandy VS pump sounds terrible after only 6mo use

New pool in fall of 2023, so I only got 6 mo use out of my Jandy pump last summer. Opened the pool up last week, and the pump is screeching high pitched whine something terrible.

Notified the pool company and they said the 12 mo warranty is up. So I need a new pump after 6 mo of use. Do I get another Jandy just because the plumbing would match up?

Or is Jandy a crappy brand and I should get something better. Sure don't want to replace a pump every spring.

jd,

I find it hard to believe that you only got a one year warranty on a brand new pool install...

But... if you have to buy a new pump, I would go with a 3 HP VS pump.. I never recommend smaller VS pumps..

I'm a Pentair kind of guy myself...

My 3 HP Pentair IntelliFlo VS pump has been running 24/7, mostly at 1200 rpm for well over 12 years.. When it dies, I will replace it with one of these IntelliFlo3 pumps.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jandy VS pumps have been warranted for 3 years.

Have all of your Jandy products been registered with Jandy? If not, do so. Then make a warranty request through Jandy.

I just want the PB to do the replacement undoing the wiring and piping vs me doing it.
The builder/plumber crammed the equipment together, leaving little room to work on it. It will be a PITA every time.

Did you put water in the pump before starting it?
Did you open the valves before starting it?
Did it prime?
Did it whine when you turned it on, and when it was running after prime?

I opened valves, dumped a 5 gal bucket of water into the pump basket. Pump started pumping in about 30 sec. And yes it started the whine as soon as I turned it on. Its gotten progressively louder over the last couple of days. Not sure if its a bearing or the motor making the racket. But my neighbor this morning said he could hear it and he is several 100 feet away !!

I would separate the motor from the wet end so you can inspect the impeller and volute to see if there is anything in there causing interference.
