Connecting a Pentair Superflow VST pump to my Easytouch

Be aware -- you will struggle to create enough chlorine in 6 hours per day for your pool during the summer.

Tim,

Set up a Feature Circuit and name it whatever you want.. Say "cleaner".. The Circuit Name will not make it do anything, it is just a name that you can remember.. Do NOT change the Circuit Function which should be Generic..

Then go to the same page you assigned the Pool Circuit to 2200 and assign your new "Cleaner" Circuit to 3000.

Then Schedule Cleaner to run the hours you want.. The pump will speed up at 10 am and drop back at noon.

You can do more speeds if you want.. Just make sure the Pool Circuit is on all the time that you want the pump to run that day..

Each "Circuit" can only have one speed.. That is why Pool is your lowest speed and then you have to keep adding additional speeds using the Feature Circuits.

If you run into any other questions, just ask...

Thanks,

Jim R.
After using most of yesterday in taking a deep dive into the EasyTouch manual I thought I had most of the EasyTouch user interface figured out but I still need some help.
I want the pump to come on in the morning at 10 am at 3000 rpm until 1201 pm and then run at 2200 until it turns off at 5pm.
So I assigned Feature 1 which is Circuit 10 to “Pool Low”, this will be the 2200 rpm.
Menu>Setting>Intelliflo>Pump #1>Pump Speeds:
Pool Circuit 3000rpm
Spa Circuit 3000rpm
Pool Low Circuit 2200
Freeze Circuit 1200
No other circuits assigned a rpm.

Schedules:
Spa 0
Pool 1 then under its schedule Mode: Schedule 10 am to 5 pm every day
Pool Light 1 then under its schedule: Mode: Schedule 8 pm to 1045 pm every day.
Not Used 0
Aux 3-7 0
Pool Low: then under its schedule: Mode: Schedule 12:01 pm to 5pm every day.
Feature 2-8 0
Aux Extra 0

This seems to be working but can’t tell for sure until I observe the schedules tomorrow.

HOWEVER: The pump is currently running at 3000 rpm and the panel shows a pool temp of 80. If I press the P button on the interior wired remote or the Filter button on the EasyTouch CB panel the pump goes to the Pump Low rpm = 2200 and the SWG goes off. The display no longer shows the pool temp indicating the pump is off. If I press the P button again the pump goes on in the 3000 rpm mode and the pool temp shows again. Right now I can’t turn the pool pump off and strangely when it goes to low rpm by pressing the P button the SWG goes off. Help!

CORRECTION: I just noticed the schedule overlap on Pool 1 circuit. I changed Pool 1 circuit to 10 am-1201pm. However that made no difference in the function of the P button.

You have to go the other way. The default Pool circuit RPM must be the lowest you want.

Set the Pool circuit to 2200 RPM and schedule POOL to run 10 AM to 5 PM.

Then Setup a Feature Circuit called Pool High and set it to 3000 RPM.

Schedule Pool High Circuit for 10 AM to Noon.

OK, thanks but I still have the problem with pump control. When I press the P button now, nothing happens to the pump it continues to run, the SWG switches off and the display no longer indicates the pool temp, indicating the pump is off. It is not off.
Do you have the circuits like I discussed?

Are other circuits than the P running?

It can take the EasyTouch a 24 hour cycle to get changed schedules in synch. And if you manually turn P on or off it disrupts the schedule cycle for 24 hours.

I think I have the circuits correct but.....
Looking at the Schedules menu I have Pool Circuit active from 10 to 5
I have the Pool High Circuit active from 10 to 1201 but it is 3:20 pm so should not be active.
The only other circuit on a schedule is the pool light from 8pm to 10:45pm so not active.
I notice on the pump itself the "Ext Control Only" LED is not on.

Give the system 24 hours without touching any buttons and see if it begins cycling according to the schedules.

Ok, this morning the pump came on as scheduled at 10 am on high speed which is 3000 rpm. But, the SWG was not on and the EasyTouch screen did not indicate the pump was on. IOW the screen did not show the pool temp as it should with the pool pump on. At 1201 the pump went completely off. It was suppose to transition to 2200 rpm at that time.

I think the first thing I need to address is why is the pump coming on at 10 am but seemingly the EasyTouch doesn't know it. No indication on the display that the pump is on.

Time to show us the way the pump and SWG are wired in the load center and with the pump comm cable.

See attach for connections.
I may have been a bit hasty on description of pressing the P key on the remote, I've noticed it takes about 5 seconds for the button once pressed to complete its task.

The left side filter pump relay looks properly wired.

Confirm that relay is plugged into the filter pump socket...

Tim,

The system has to be in Auto and either the Pool mode or the Spa mode.. for the SWCG to come on...

You need to have your "Pool" Circuit scheduled to run for the entire time you want the cell to run each day..

Thanks,

Jim R.

That describes your POOL HIGH circuit running alone without your POOL circuit being active.

Check the setup for your POOL circuit schedule.

Was your panel in AUTO?

Shows us your schedule setup.

I may misunderstand the modes:
Auto: Normal ops
Service: Only buttons on the outside panel work
Time Out: Buttons on outside panel work for 3 hrs then return to Auto.

If that is correct then the unit has never been in any mode other than Auto.

Schedule right now is:
Spa : no schedule
Pool : 1 schedule. 10 am to 5 pm
Pool Light: 1 schedule. 8pm to 10:45 pm
Pool High: 1 schedule. 10 am to 12:01 pm
There are no other schedules.
All schedules are every day.

Set Pool High to no days to turn it off. See if your Pool schedule runs tomorrow with your pump and SWG on.

Check after 10AM and see if the LED under the F button is lit on the outdoor panel indicating the filter pump relay should be on.
