I have a MasterTemp 400 wired into my Intellicenter Board. Also, use the Intellicenter App to control the Pool: Lights/Pumps/Features and the Heater [mostly].

Here's what the App can control on the Heater:
1. I can turn on/off the heater
2. I see if the heater is running or not [flame icon]
3. I see the temperature setting [on the app]

Here's what it doesn't do:
1. I cannot send [via the app] a change of temp to the IntelliCenter board. When i change the temp on the App, it looks like the change takes place, but the change never reaches the Heater.

In order to change the temp on the heater, I need to either manually do it at the heater; or change it at the IntelliCenter Panel.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? Maybe a setting I have wrong? Or?? Thank you, Shannon

Does your IntelliCenter show MasterTemp or Heater on the Heat Mode button?

The IntelliCenter configuration must be set to the correct control interface:
  • If the MasterTemp is connected to the IntelliCenter using RS-485 then settings: system configuration: other equipment: heaters and set the heater to "mastertemp".
  • If the MasterTemp is connected to the IntelliCenter using the 2-wire fireman’s switch at J2 then settings: system configuration: other equipment: heaters and set the heater to "heater".
When using the RS485 comms, adjusting the set point adjusts the IntelliCenter and the MasterTemp heater set points simultaneously. No more needing to verify the heater set point has not been altered and is above the IntelliCenter set point.

This is different then when using the 2 wire fireman's switch, the set point adjustment only changes the Intellicenter set point, it has no effect on the actual set point of the heater. Meaning if for some reason the heater setpoint changes from 104, then you have to manually adjust it back at the heater.

With the RS-485 connection the IntelliCenter tells the MasterTemp heater if it should be active, the desired heat setpoint, and if the POOL or SPA is being heated. The Connected MasterTemp then is the thermostat and cycles as necessary to maintain the heat setpoint. The heat setpoint is displayed on both the IntelliCenter displays and the MasterTemp LCD display.

This answers my question… Looks like I need the rs-485 option.

Will need to look into that. Thanks!

Set the MasterTemp heater temperature control to 104F and leave it there.

All heater temperature control is done through your IntelliCenter.

But, I have the 2-wire Fireman's switch setup... So, I cannot use the App to adjust the spa temp. I can only turn on and turn off the heater...

I'd need to walk over to the panel or heater to adjust the temp...

Or, I can look into the RS-485 option and re-wire accordingly - - If I'm reading all of this correctly? Shannon

Sure you can.

You can adjust the heater temperature in SPA mode or Pool mode.

Change the Temp Setting on the app using the arrows or the slide along the circle.

It is very expensive to install the RS-485 in an old heater.

Ahhhhh.... I've been using the wrong APP... Works Great, now!! :)

Was using: Pentair Intellicenter APP

Now using: Pentair Pool APP

That was easy - - ha... Thank you, Shannon
