There is zero info on You Tube or here on the S311SX Side Mount. The pool was installed in '10 and as far as I know, original sand. It looks like there are screws in the elbows, but really don't know, I didn't open it up yet. If I start to break things because they are probably brittle, I'll send back the assembly and just buy a new Pentair sand filter. I ordered 350lbs.of Mystic White II sand from Home Depot. Laterals themselves are threaded into the elbow. To remove the assembly, the bulkhead has to be removed from the tank, the laterals folded upwards so it will fit through the to hole. The diffuser assembly may need to be removed as well.
I was able to replace a couple of the laterals without doing that but there was enough to grab hold of to remove, and that was very early in my business. The whole assembly is about $140.00 (less then) so it is sometimes worth it to replace the whole thing to avoid future issues, like another cracking or getting worn out after you do the job, that's a lot of sand.
