How much chlorine to store

I’m reading that salt generators raise the PH. How much acid are you all putting in your pool
What you may be reading is that people who go from using pucks to SWCG find that they are using more MA. That is because pucks contain acid which inhibits pH rise. Whereas a SWCG only produces chlorine, thus you need to add MA to control pH.

I last added acid in June 2023. I didn't need to, I just felt guilty about not adding for a year before that. I got 2 full seasons until now, and don't expect anything to change.

My pump and SWG run 24/7 (although the swg cycles on/off over the 24 hours).

If you need to lower Ph, it's the pool surface, the water features, or the fill water, not the SWG.

For some reason right now I’m needing to use half gallon of 14.5% per week. My ph increases to 8.0 and after 0.5 gallon it goes down to 7.7/7.8. TA is 85
How are you testing? Having a TA of 85 sounds like it might be from pool store testing.
They are notoriously inaccurate.

BUT...if it does turn out that you are somewhere in that range, that is the reason for the weekly acid adds. As you add acid, it brings down pH and very slightly reduces TA. Once TA gets into the 50-70 range, it and pH will find a happy balance, and your acid adds will be far less.
Note that your fill water may have high TA, so it would be prudent to test it - as it may be keeping your levels high.
Some people try to accelerate the dropping of TA process by lowering pH to 7.2-7.4, and then let it get to above 8 before lowering it a lot again.

According to Leslie test I’m at 94 cya. Was considering draining half my pool, but it seems with salt water it’s not needed anymore?

How do you lower your CYA in the winter, you drain part of your pool every year? Here water is very expensive.

Why not keep it at 60 and lower chlorine level
I keep my CYA at 50-ish. Sometimes lower sometimes a little higher. You can do whatever you want as long as you’re following the chart. Experts say the higher CYA allows you to save a little SWCG run time.

I have a pentair 1.5 hp superflo variable pump. It has its own settings that you can specify when the timer goes on. I’m not sure what the timer in my picture is used for or why it’s even needed but my understanding is that’s where I need to connect the salt generator to. So just to confirm #2 is from the left where there is 1 black wire and 1 white wire and #4 has a black and white wire currently. How do I tell if manual switch is currently on or off and what does that do

Similar to my setup then. Pump is on 1&3 for constant power line & my swg controller is on 2&4 which is the load to timer. I just keep timer on and all runs together
