CYA confusion

Hello , I’ll get to the point quickly, I stopped putting in chlorine tablets 5 months ago and have been using liquid chlorine since, as was suggested by my local Leslie associate . On 09/09/24 my CYA levels were at 34. On 09/30/24 the CYA was at 116,then on 10/15/24 it was a 59! It is now 03/04/25 and the level has changed back to 125. Now my understanding is that CYA levels breakdown over time ,is that a correct assumption?
 
Leslie's teamed up with the California gaming commission and is having a crossover event to promote both.

So Leslie's is throwing random test #s out there and then taking all your money, just like Mega Millions. 😁

Thanks for the reassurance. I thought it was me 😁. I do believe they have an algorithm out there depending on your readings to advise and sell sell sell. What test kit would you recommend.

Test Kits Compared

Either the TF100 or TFpro from tftestkits.net whoops it's comparable Taylor kit. They all use the same reagents.

All of the kits come in a salt version if you have a salt pool. The TF kits save another $10 there with the $30 salt kit only being $20 more, making them even better values versus Taylor.
 
Here’s a comparison chart I made that compares the accuracy of Leslie’s testing vs one of the test kits recommended here at TFP. Keep in mind this is the best case scenario too. Add in the variability of different employees who do not give a hoot, and it’s even worse. Take charge of your testing and you will never look back.

You'll get tired of having to add liquid chlorine each day. A saltwater chlorine generator (SWG) is much more efficient and makes your pool easier to manage.

You've got to get a good test kit. The kits from TFtestkits.net provide the best value.

I listened to TFP, bought a Taylor K-2006C Testing Kit, and have not looked back.
About to start my 4th year and I feel very comfortable measuring key endpoints (FC, CyA, ALk, pH, NaCl). Heck last year, I was measuring only CyA and FC once a week only and spent an very comfortable pool summer.
 
*$45 speed stir comes with TFpro/TFpro salt.

*Part of why it whoops the Taylor kit, with no stirrer for the same money. Also the TFpro has reagents better doled out for how we test things.

Its one of those things that you have to see in action to appreciate. Then you'll sleep with it under your pillow and if someone comes for it, you'll cut them if you have to.
