We have the Pentair Intellicenter control panel. Pictured is manual and equipment to set up the inside components. The manual says the protocol adapter is needed. Our PB said he spoke to Pentair and that it's not needed. The person he hired to do our pool school believes it is. We've plugged in the interior equipment into the power source and router. The exterior box is unable to connect to wifi. Can it be set up without the protocol adapter? I'm unsure if our exterior equipment is installed correctly.

B,

The IntelliCenter does not use WiFi nor the ScreenLogic protocol adapter.. The outside antenna should connect to the inside antenna, but it is not WiFi.

Quit trying to set up WiFi..

Your outside antenna is connected to the IntelliCenter's Ethernet port like it should be.. Your inside antenna should be hard-wired to your home Ethernet.

It appears like your Ethernet link is working to me...

Thanks,

Jim R.

The protocol adapter is not needed.

You have the 900 MHZ wireless link that does not use WiFi. Ignore all the WiFi setup instructions and WiFi in the IntelliCenter panel.

Read the network setup section in Pentair Automation Systems - Further Reading

If you need more help I can do it later today.

1. Connect the indoor unit directly to your home network router port switch.

2. Connect the outdoor unit using the provided CAT5 cable to the POE dongle and the Ethernet jack on the PCB.

You should see the LEDs flashing as the two units make a connection.

3. Then do the Internet Connection Test on the outdoor panel.

See page 85 in https://www.pentair.com/content/dam...als---user-docs/intellicenter-users-guide.pdf

Do not do "Connect to Wireless Network"

If using the Pentair High Power Wireless Link kit skip to the Internet Connection Test. It should show you are connected.

4. Then register the user using the OCP. Once you pass the Internet Connection Test then On Add New Account . They don't need to know your address. Put in your email, name, and password and press the check on the upper right. See if it asks for anything else. Give it the minimum they require.

5. Then Login to Existing Account to connect your panel to the Pentair servers in the cloud.

6. Download the Pentair HOME App to your phone and bookmark IntelliCenter2.com on your PC

7. Login using the name and password you setup with Pentair

8. You should be able to connect to your IntelliCenter Panel.

After looking through the link posted, I don't think our control box is set up for automation yet. Can this be done by the pool school person or is an electrician needed?

This is the surge board for your SWG and has nothing to do with your Internet connection.

20250228_160138-jpg.630176

Does your panel pass the Internet Connection Test?

What do you h get when you select that?

Show me the screen.

You have setup problems and not not electrical problems.

What firmware version is your Intellicenter?

Update your panel to the latest 2.026 firmware on the Pentair website. See Pentair Automation Systems - Further Reading

As of November 2024, the Add New Account may be timing out and not letting you establish a new account to connect your panel to the Pentair servers. There are currently incompatibilities between the 1.064 firmware and the Pentair Server. To create a new account, try the following:

  1. Download Pentair POOL app
  2. Open Pentair POOL and insert your email and password into the app. Eight characters, such as Cap, lowercase, number, and at least one special character, are required for the password.
  3. At the panel, Kill Intellicenter for >1 minute.
  4. Check to see that the internet is present.
  5. Go to the Portal and enter once again: Add New Account... even though you just established an account.
  6. Enter the email and PW you established in the app.
