Hayward Aqua Rite PCB Replacement

Last year, after doing some searching through the forums, I found out that the thermistor on my Aqua Rite system had gone bad and was able to successfully replace it. It unfortunately broke again, so I’d like to prevent having to fix it every year (which seems to be likely based on how often they fail).

It looks like, after searching more, I should replace the board with one that has the r1.59 firmware. I have a few questions on this please and would appreciate any help!

1. How do I confirm the current firmware on my pcb?
2. Can I just replace the pcb with a new one with r1.59?

I’ve attached a photo of my current board and a potential one to replace it.

Pressing the diagnostic button sequentially will display:
  • Default salt display
  • Pool temp
  • Cell Voltage - When not generating, the voltage is about 30 to 32 volts dc. When generating, the voltage drops about 1 volt per amp of current.
  • Cell current
  • Desired output (% of the knob)
  • Instant salinity
  • Product name
  • Software revision (r.XX)
  • Cell type

Thank you! If I find it’s an older revision which I expect, am I able to just swap in a new board? Or is it more complicated?
 
You have software r1.58 (see the below pic) with a cracked thermistor.
And yes, the potential replacement board is r1.59 and is a direct replacement. Make sure to take pictures of all the wiring connections so you can connect them all back without a doubt.

Also, I noticed that your PCB was mounted incorrectly. Make it right at the next opportunity. Sandwich the PCB between the metal and the hex screws.
Notice the difference?
