Hey Everyone! Back from winter hibernation! I opened this past Saturday to clear water with 4.5 ppm FC. TFP baby.

I had a few leaves fall in removing the cover but overall it went smoothly. The cover was almost completely dry.

Shocked the pool ran the filter. My numbers all looked good! Tested with my TFP kit refills.

Already dealing with debris from neighbors cherry tree lol. Don’t ever plant one near a pool.

Hey all! Just checking in. The pool has been thankfully all good so far. At this point in the summer, I get a lot of debris from the Cherry tree next door. Also I play the water level game with the evaporation. I think next year I’ll have to invest in a solar cover.

A pic the other day after running the robot.

Hey @Decoy205 , I just saw this thread, looks great!

I had a neighbor years ago who had a pool basically side by side with our pool and the wife commented on how nice our pool always looked when we opened - I spent time on closing prep where they just threw the winter cover on ... also didn't use the TFP way of water care!

Definitely a solar cover drastically reduces the evaporation, I never have to top off the water. BUT it does keep the water temp high so if you like cooler water it may be a negative tradeoff. Our water temp has hit 90+ and I have trees that block the sun on the pool for some of the afternoon and it looks like you don't so expect slightly higher temps. Of course these days waking up to 60's temps the water stays warmer than an uncovered pool.

Glad things are going well!

Thank a lot Vinny! I hope things are going well for you too. I think that’s good to know about the hotter water. Starting in late July the sun goes behind a big tree shading it for about 3 hours and more shade time as the sun gets lower towards summers end. I will definitely have to experiment. I think it will extend our pool time late in the summer.

We just got a massive storm last night I’ll probably have to pump more water out of the pool. Last time before Debby we got six inches of water in 3hours. Last night sounded bad and woke me up. I suspect I’m overflowing today.

We closed this past weekend. It was a great day to close. Not much wind. Water was TFP clear so I was pleased. All chems were balanced with slam level chlorine.

Fingers crossed for a non-eventful winter. No major investments this season. All I put into the pool was stabilizer and LC. Spent very little although I wish LC was less than 5.67 /gal.

I think next year I’ll be getting my filter multiport valve replaced. Or maybe a new filter. I’ll diagnose it in the spring. I see filter sand in the pool sometimes and it leaks a bit from the backwash port when in filter mode.

Other than that it was a great season albeit very fast!!Hope everyone had a great summer season for those that close up.

Or maybe a SWG and use the long term chlorone savings to cover the cost of the new filter.

You'll also have stoopid time to replace the filter because you won't be a slave to the jugs. 😁

Here's to an uneventful winter and an easy spring opening.
