I had my pool done at beginning of April with aqua blue quartzscape. It looked great first few days following fill up. Then all the white spots started appearing and color was very blotchy. I did have a pool company do the startup . After a few weeks the color was just bad and very streaky. I contacted the pool plastering company and they said a no drain acid wash. This was started yesterday morning. As of today it looks worse instead of better Now many patches of white. When I told them they said now they need to drain and do an acid wash. Is this normal. I am a little concerned as I have read this can damage the plaster. I paid about 8,000 and will be so upset if it does more damage. Adding pics of how it looks now during the no drain acid process.

Welcome to TFP.

Mottling of dark plaster, especially blue, is common.

White spotting also happens.

Acid washing removes a layer of plaster and depending on the color under it, it may look better or not. In general we don't recommend acid washing.
