Ive actually had the pool for abt 10yrs but my Papaw was always the one who done everything that needed to be done to it. I recently lost him and now I'm overwhelmed with what all needs to be done. Im not completely clueless. I know how to test the water and treat it. But I didn't bother covering it up like we normally did or "closing"(not sure what all that consists of) Now im wishing I did considering its full of leaves and debris. Its also turning green on the bottom which just happened this week. All I know is to throw the chlorine and alaegecide to it.(I also know that the pump has to be running before adding chemicals) Also the pump has been turned off all winter and the pump was replaced last year. Im cleaning the leaves and debris out now, then should I turn the pump back on? And is there anything else that I need to be doing. Im so embarrassed that I let it get this bad. I was so depressed and grieving that I just let things go. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.

Sorry for your loss.

First step is to get a good test kit. Don't rely on strips or a pool store because both are historically proven to be wrong. After you get the test kit, we will get you up and running.
