Skimmer door is missing back foam...suggestions

Hello
The door to my skimmer area, that has a name that I can't remember, is missing the foam backing so the flapping door remains open all the time because of its weight.

1. Is this ok? I assume not since debris will flow out when the pump is off.

2. If not, what can I put behind it to get it to close again? Can I use packing foam, cut it, and get that door right somehow?

Skimmer Weir - DIY foam repair

Weir door foam

Sometime in the past few months the foam in my weir door must have come off. The door now stays completely open even with the pump off. It is a waterway renegade Skimmer. Would any foam work or is it better to just replace the door. Also how does the door come out? Would hate to break another...

Foam for weir door

I have perused some threads about purchasing a closed cell foam to cut down and replace the foam behind my weir doors and wondering if someone can confirm if this would work? I’m thinking I may have some algae spores stuck in the foam that aren’t allowing me to complete my opening slam...
