New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

are you guys saying they will do better than that $849?
Pt,

Maytronics has a set price that dealers can advertise.. Depending on the circumstances, they can sell for less, but can't advertise that price.

I suspect that Marina does not have that problem with the EVO, so I believe that is the price..

That said, they don't pass on their pricing to me, so I am just assuming....

Talk to them and see what they have to say.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I’m not sure on part number, but I believe it comes with the standard filter. When purchasing the robot, Marina will swap the standard with the finer filter option if you ask.
I purchased one from them a year ago and don't think it was an option then but if they are doing swap i guess it's probably a pretty safe assumption it's not the fine one. Thanks

There is an arrow on the side of the filter that points to the grid size of the filter medium. What does your arrow point to? See link below for background. Mine points to the finest squares. TBH my swapped fine filter media looks very similar to others so I’m not really sure if there is a big difference or any difference at all. I find that it picks up silt and fine sand very well though. Anyone use an Evo 604 fine filter?

Mine points to the one with just 4 squares. Thanks hadn't seen that post. I think I will get a the fine filter too and can see if they do any differently. The coarse got a lot but always felt like it didn't quite get as much as the dolphin with the fine filters

Joe,

If that is true, then it appears that there are 3 difference size filters...

I got one of the original EVOs, and my filter has an arrow pointed at the box with only 4 squares.. There are two other boxes, both with more and different number of squares..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Marina only sells two options when looking under parts. Perhaps there is a middle option that isn’t sold yet.

Thanks Jim. Really appreciate all the info here. I’ll be calling and ordering the evo Monday !
Now to decide which filter to ask for ….

Hi has anyone had experience with Polaris and the VRX iQ?

It seems like they are quite similar looking to the Aqua Evo.

Thanks

I don’t. But I think the VRX iQ doesn’t have tracks right? These seem more similar to the EVO 614 IQ. Note they are made by the same manufacturer, Fluidra, but just a different brand.

Polaris PCX™ 868 iQ

Polaris EPIC™ 8642 iQ

Here is a list of the Polaris robotic pool cleaners.

Something to be aware of is that Customer Support at Fluidra and Aqua Products totally sucks. Or, to be more precise, is non-existent.

When configuring the iAquaLink software the app glitched in the middle of a firmware update for the robot. I sent an inquiry about how to restart the update to Fluidra on March 23rd, and forwarded that inquiry to Aqua Products on March 31st, but never received a response from either of them.

Also on March 31st I submitted an inquiry about waterline cleaning to Aqua Products. Again, I never received a response.

I have an inquiry in to Marina to see if they will be able to break anything loose.

I've seen their brand too, but I'm hesitant given the lack of response from their customer service. Lately, I've been really keen on getting an Automatic Pool Cleaner, but making a decision is proving to be quite challenging.

Thanks Jim,

I noticed that a few pine needles made their way into the impeller. I was able to use needle nose pliers to remove them without removing the shroud though.
how big of a problem do you think it is with trash (pine needles/palm tree spines/etc) getting into and wrapping around the impeller? I previously thought it would be enclosed somewhat preventing trash getting in there.

It happened only once and was just one small
Pine needle that somehow made it through to the impeller. I think the risk of debris getting to the impeller is low. The impeller seems very well protected.

After using this for 6 months or so now, I really need a finer filter. It DOES NOT pick up the fine dust that is getting into my pool lately.
