Am I ready to slam?
If my thinking is correct ph was the one thing the article says ti have adjusted first. Worry abt TA later ?

Apologies I meant to post this on the other thread I had started (pre pool opening)

Yup. And as luck would have it, you're golden as is.

*also worth noting, once you have all the components of the kit, the refills are pretty cheap. The two TF refills were 43something and 44something respectively. It's just not worth trying to squeeze life out of a compromised supply.

The reagents "never" smell during assembly. If you have a Taylor or TFP kit that smells, I suggest you had or have a leak somewhere inside the kit.
So I'm totally OK that something may have leaked. But if the reagents don't smell, why do they smell when they leak ? :ROFLMAO:

Is it the evaporated residue of the Phenol red (etc etc)? Maybe some drips happen in filling the bottles occasionally and have long dried which is why some of us smell it and some don't?

@JoyfulNoise what's the deal ?

Fire at will. If you need to wait, having the FC free and clear above min will prevent it from getting any worse.

Lol and I only said paper towels because the large pieces are very patterned like my paper towels. Even my toilet paper doesn’t have that much pattern and I buy the good stuff!

**I’m just going to add this little note in case someone was like me and searched “why does my pool look like a snow globe?”

CYA IS I repeat IS Important, no matter what the pool store tells you. I truly believe my pool is so bad at this point because for two years it was not being sanitized properly.

That being said
Even the pool store and test strips showed high cya levels the last 2 years. I visited 2-3 different pool shops questioning that (before finding this site) . They all seem to be under educated in the cya fc relationship. All said “ it’s a little high, nothing to worry about . “
Knowing what I’ve learned here , my pool has not been sanitized properly for 2 summers as I was keeping fc in the 1-3 range for cya 100+
SMH
So today starts my battle against 2 years of problems

Question.

After testing fc and cc (so sample is clear when I pour it out) and rinse tube with faucet water, why does the faucet rinse water turn pink? what Chem in my faucet water causes this

I just got my TF-100 refill set (that I bought during the March sale) and I am extremely happy with the contents.
The TF-100 kit is awesome and I am glad I discovered it back in 2016 from this site!! I don't dislike Taylor, I just have stuck with TF Test kits.
