Hello everyone, I am having a curious issue with my Jandy NG heater (JXI 400n). The unit is 2 years old and has been working without issue. The other night we wanted to use the spa so we turned on the heater and it would not ignite. The blower would come on and it sounds like it calls for ignition but it failed to ignite and eventually it shutdown wit the IGN Fault msg. Tried a few times with same result; air temp was in the 40s. Next day I backwashed, rinsed, and tried the heater; it fired right up as expected. Temp was in the 50s and the sun was hitting the heater. That night I tried the heater again and once again got the failed to ignite. Tried again the next morning when the sun was once again hitting the unit and it fired up without issue. Is there a particular sensor in these heaters that would be sensitive to the air temperature? I am not sure where to start with this one. Why would a heater work fine during the day and fail to ignite at night? Thanks everyone,
Craig

Corrosion on a ground connection causing an intermittent heater flame sensing failure. The resistance at the corrosion increases with temperature and humidity changes.

Clean the flame sense rod. See…

Show us pics of what the insides of the heater look like.

Clean or replace the flame sense rod.

Does the heater give a puff of heat before the IGN faults?

You sure you have an LXI heater and not a JXI heater?

LXI heaters were replaced by JXI and not sold 2 years ago. JXI heaters do not use a flame sense rod.

Do you hear the click of the gas valve opening?

Check your gas pressures using a manometer.

@swamprat69 may be helpful in diagnostics.

I tried the heater again last night and it fired up without issue; it was warmer last night than previous nights. I tried again today and it continued to work without issue. I will try again when we get another cold night and I will note any error codes/flashes. Thanks
