I've been using PoolRX cartridges as an algae preventative for several years. They worked very well.
However, the last two summers they became ineffective after about 2-1/2 months.
Has anyone else seen this?
Thank you,

You have unknowingly been adding copper to your pool this whole time. Although copper helps prevent algae, it can't overcome an active bloom which is why you need to properly sanitize *** no matter what.*** And. Once you are properly sanitizing, then you don't need all the other things telling you that less sanitizing is acceptable.

Im assuming if the PoolRX has been 'ineffective' that you have alage. If thats the case, you need to SLAM Process and you need a Test Kits Compared if you dont already have one.

It's impossible to know anything for sure without a history of reliable test results to evaluate, but it sounds to me like the PoolRx hasn't been doing anything except play the part of a placebo. Instead this sounds like the what happens when CYA builds up over time to the point where the chlorine struggles to keep the algae down.

But that's just a guess based on what you've told us. I do not and would not use copper in my water, so I can't say I've experienced it.
