We had our pool remodeled and resurfaced this past January, 2-3 months later we noticed dark staining. I’ve tried everything but nothing works. So frustrating.

Have you reached out to the company that did the plaster for guidance? Prior to this replaster was there staining on the previous plaster? What chemicals have you added to your pool? Any metals in your water that you’re aware of?

Do you have anything copper in your plumbing system or have you used anything with “Blue” in the name?

If you crush a vitamin C tablets in a sock and put it on the stain (or tablet directly on) does it go away? If so it’s likely iron

Never had this problem before new surface. Don’t know about copper. Tried Metal Out and a number of other metal treatments that didn’t work.

Pool info, 21,000 gallons, salt system. Regularly add stabilizer, calcium hardness and muriatic acid. Pentair salt cell, Hayward pump and heater.

I have reached out and filled out a warranty claim. No prior staining. Not sure about metals we’ve only lived in this house and city for 3.5 years. I’ve tried metal out, all algaecide a whole kit of a metal stain treatment…

We have a DE filter. I clean the filter regularly. It’s not easy to take it out. Never added copper.

It’s classic diamond brite.
Was it originally white?
Why would anyone add copper?
People add copper to prevent algae.

Our opinion is that copper should never be used at all by anyone for any reason in a pool, but there are many people who push copper as a solution or preventative.

Have you contacted SGM who is the manufacturer of the plaster mix?

If not, I would recommend getting them involved.

They will likely have someone who can stop by and take a look.

I have already filled out a warranty claim with SGM. I also read everything I add to make sure there is no copper because I did see something that it can cause metal stains or something to that effect. I also tried CuLator metal remover kit. Unfortunately it didn’t work.

What do they say about the stains?

Did they see the pictures or come out to take a look?

Pompano is pretty close to you.

Are they going to send anyone out to look at it in person?
they haven’t replied yet. I initially sent the photos they then sent me the link to the form. I’m still waiting to hear back. I did see they’re in Pampano so that would be nice if someone came out.
