Title kinda says it I got this installed a year ago, I always suspected something was up with it since I have been getting unexplainable air intake and some issues with the basket gasket and handles. I noticed that today is is spraying water from the side kinda consistently. Anyone have a good resource to use for troubleshooting it? And any idea what caused the seemly premature failure? Lastly has anyone tried to use the Hayward warranty for anything?

Thanks everyone.

It looks like the bolts are just loose.

You can try tightening the bolts or open it up and replace the gasket.
Tightening it slowed the spray but didn’t stop it so I am assuming there is some gasket or something that is shot. The side of the basket chamber where it connects to the motor looks a little off to me. Like improperly seated or mated sort of buckled. Does that look troublesome? Sorry rather new to pool stuff.

Gasket looks badly deteriorated. You really shouldn't be able to see any of it. Relatively easy fix. The gasket looks like a rubber band and fits into a slot on the front of the pump body. Most of the time they are a little small and need to be slightly stretched so as to remain in the slot or put in a cup of hot water so it relaxes a bit.
At the 7:30 mark it is discussed in this video:

Thanks everyone this is installed in such a stupid way and without unions I am going to need to either get creative and try to fix it in place or get a cable saw to cut the pvc to have a prayer of having enough to couple back later. I’ll try It prolly mid week and let you all know how it goes. At a year I didnt consider the gasket being deteriorated yet but I’ll check it out. Thanks again.
