Hey y'all,

Newb here. Just got our first pool up and running early yesterday morning. While I'm waiting on my test kit to get here, I had my water tested at a pool store. They used some type of computer analysis they said.

FC 1.8
Cya 51
Total alkalinity 65
PH 7
Total chlorine 3.1
Calcium hardness 80

Looks like I need to add chlorine for the fc/cya balance but what else should I do?

Add liquid chlorine, but do nothing else until you get your own kit. You can't go too wrong there.

Those store test results are.... strange. How they decide on some results seems to me like they use a roulette wheel and just make them up!?

I would add a 40 ounces of 10% a day and see where you are when the kit arrives. That will raise your FC by 4.2. Per PoolMath.

Thanks Maddie. I will do this. Will rain affect much? It's been pouring here off and on. As soon as there is a break in the rain I need to drain off some water. Would it hurt to wait one more day before adding chlorine?
