We went through this madness the second year of our pool. Vacuumed incessantly, to waste, through silt bags, etc. SLAM’d the pool, monitored chemicals like mad scientists, changed the sand in the filter, changed the filter head. Nothing fixed it. Pool would be crystal clear all day, run the pump overnight and, boom, the next morning it would be back. We just learned to live with it for the last 5 years. We have a 30 foot dirt collector and Oklahoma gets hot and dusty in the summer.
A happy accident occurred this summer. The original single speed pump died (bearings seized). I replaced it with an updated two speed. If I run it on low speed, we get no silt/dirt deposits on the bottom. I ran it one night on high, and the deposits were back.
I believe the high speed function causes blow by of the finer particles or something along those lines. Someone will be along to tell me I’m wrong but our chemicals are good, the water is crystal clear, and there’s no silt/dirt on bottom after running in low, so I can live with it.
