Air Bubbles in output

I have an in ground pool. It has a 2hp Pentair pump, salt cell IC40 and cartridge filter.

During the deep freeze we had in Georgia, 4 degrees, the system froze, despite the thermostat running the pump continuously. The volute cap sprung open with ice expansion and the salt cell cracked. I covered everything with a blanket and space heater. When things thawed, I examined and cleaned the cartridge filter - and found no damage. I replaced the salt cell with a dummy cell and reset the volute lid. I will get a new salt cell by spring. Everything runs well and no leaks, but the system is sucking in air somewhere giving bubbles in the pool inflow. You can see bubbles in the clear lid on the pump housing.

Could it be sucking in around the volute lid ? To Test it, I put plastic and zip ties around the volute lid - to see if the air was sucking in there and maybe stop the bubbles. No luck.

Any advice on where to look for air getting in?

The pool and skimmers did NOT freeze. Only the equipment - cracking the salt cell and pushing the volute lid off damaging the rim & teeth that hold the lid down. I've ordered a new volute Pump housing and lid.

Is it OK to run the system with the bubbles? in the mean time? Thanks

Check all the valves on the suction side of the pumps and make sure they didn't crack. Check all your fittings as well. Also, it may help to clean and lube the orings under the pump basket lid and at the couplings on the pump suction.

It would also help if you could provide some pics of the equipment pad. We may see something that could potentially cause an issue there.

As long as you are moving water don't worry about a little air for now.

Thanks for the replies! A comfort to know the bubbles won't harm.

I replaced the volute Pump Pot and Cam Lid. That fixed the problem. With the cracks in the lid teeth and housing lip, it was not able to seal causing a lot of air to enter the system. Heres the old and new.

Here you can see how the ice popped the cam lid breaking off teeth on the lid and housing. The ice destroyed my salt cell too! An expensive lesson, because I knew I could run a dummy all winter. $ 20 part vs $1000.
New to pools, so I'm leaning.

It looks like the cell has seen some 'things'. How old was it ? Maybe you only wasted the last bit of it's life. 🤷‍♂️
