Hot tub solar cover

Happy Thanksgiving to all,
I am considering buying a solar cover to rest sun heat and reduce evaporation in my hot tub.
I am wondering if I should cut out the area around my skimmer/filter, or cut the blanket to fit the entire inside of the tub.
I know this is a pool forum, but I get great answers here and am hoping for some more.

What type of hot tub as we discussing? A standalone hot tub or a gunite hot tub connected with a pool?

Standalone hot tubs typically have an insulated cover for when they are not in use.

A solar cover/blanket should cover the entire water area inside the tub.

This is a stand alone. I didn't know if I should cut out around the skimmer, or if I should let the solar cover lay over top of it.
