No power to PDA

Had an unusual loss of power in the last couple days.

Let me start with a little history.

Earlier this year, I had an automatic valve go bad and kept blowing the fuse. Also discovered that it burned out the power supply. After replacing the power supply, fuses and valve control, everything worked fine all summer.

This week, while closing the pool, I ran a sump pump over night to drain the pool. I flipped the breakers off for the filter pump, polaris, and blower/heater. I did not realize I left the breaker for the PDA on. That night, I'm thinking the PDA might have triggered the freeze protection, but the pump was not powered on. A couple days later, I realized there was no power to the PDA. However, when the breakers are on, there is power to the blower, the heater and the GFI outlet/lights.

Is it possible leaving the PDA breaker on without the pump may have burned out the power supply again? All fuses are intact, also. I have not checked any of the other relays that might be in there and have not opened the middle section of the box.

I will probably pull the power supply and check it at some point. But thought I would check to see if anyone else has seen this issue.

Lots of manufacturers make PDAs. What manufacturer and model control system do you have?

Post pics of what we are talking about.

Yeah if this is talking about Aqualink I leave mine on all winter but turn off everything else like the pump and heater. It controls my garden low voltage lighting is why I leave it running. And yes, it often tries to start the pump for its freeze protection but since the pump is powered off (and drained) it simply can't and doesn't cause any other issues.

Sorry about that. Should know better than to post later in the evening, then be away for a couple days. I did notice that if I switch the PDA breaker on, I hear a slight hum from the box.

Ok, so your Aqualink panel is completely dead when you turn on the breaker.

Do you have a multimeter and know how to check volatges?

Open up the Aqualink top and bottom panels and post pics of the internal wiring.

Thanks. I do have a multi-meter and will check voltages when the weather warms up a bit in a day or so. That's how I discovered the bad power supply at the start of the season. Panel is dead with all breakers on. GFI/Lights get power. So power is getting to the panel. Also, the heater powers up with the breaker on. All tube style fuses appear to be intact.

Would the little watch style battery have anything to do with it? Have not replaced that ever and it is about 4 years old.
