So my pool contract includes Pentair Easy Touch 4 & 8 Pool & Spa. From what I have understood, this doesn't include wireless control or control using an app on a phone. Can either of these be added later? And if yes, how much would it cost?
Thanks for your reply. If the cost is the same, why would a PB install Easy Touch 4 & 8 and not the IntelliCenter? Also, if its too late to make the switch, do you think adding the ScreenLogic for 600 is worth it? I am in Houston, TX if that matters.H,
You would need to add ScreenLogic for about $600 bucks. This would allow you to use your PC or phone to control the pool.
A better bet would be to go with the new IntelliCenter as the total cost is almost the same.
If you go with the EasyTouch make absolutely sure you do not get the 'lite' version of the EasyTouch. Avoid anything with a model number of PSL4 or PL4. The 'L' is the key to cheap.. and in this case, you get just what you pay for.
Thanks,
Jim R.
A lot of PBs are old school and they stick with what they know and are not interested in learning, or installing newer tech. When the Intellicenter first came out, a lot of builders had issues with the installs and programming, and there were some "kinks" to the system. No way an old school PB would get out of their comfort zone and attempt this, when the 20-year-old Easy Touch is still available to sell and install. You will see that same builder installing older lights like the Globrite, and be scared by salt systems, but it is your pool, not his, so if this is something you want to push for, it should be cost neutral. But if your builder is old school and loves the SL system, he may have bought a bunch of them and has them on the shelf, so that's what he installs. If the cost is the same, why would a PB install Easy Touch 4 & 8 and not the IntelliCenter?
Missed commenting on that part, by my opinion would be YES. Why have an automation system, albeit an old one, and not be able to control it remotely on your mobile devices? Yes, you could do all the programming and never have to touch it, but for such a small amount of money in the grand scheme of things, that is one I would go with. Also, if its too late to make the switch, do you think adding the ScreenLogic for 600 is worth it?
Just got word from the PB that he has ScreenLogic included in the project!Missed commenting on that part, by my opinion would be YES. Having an EasyTouch without ScreenLogic is a little like having a horse without a saddle.
ScreenLogic makes programming the EasyTouch about 10 x simpler than using the EasyTouch's little 3" display. It makes things understandable to the average guy who does not speak 'Pentair'. It also makes using the EasyTouch fun.
In my opinion, it is worth more than $600 bucks.
Thanks,
Jim R.
How do I figure this out? I mean can I look at the one installed on Nmy house exterior?H,
Often, when they include ScreenLogic they try and use a 'Lite' version of the EasyTouch.. A PSL4 or PL4. You really, really will not be happy with the lite version of the ET.
Please double check and have the Pool Builder provide you with the model number or the part number of the ET he is selling you.
Thanks,
Jim R.
No no. Thank you for bringing it up. I would rather clarify than not be aware of it.H,
Sorry, I did not realize that you allready had the EasyTouch installed... What you have is NOT one of the lite versions.
Sorry for any confusion,
Jim R.
