For sure ditch that Rainbow chlorinator, it won't work worth squat with a VSP on anything but max run speed. They make feeders that do work with low flow pump settings. In the long run, a salt water chlorine generator will serve you best, as following the TFP system is not compatible with tab feeders. But, if you go with adding chlorine daily like some of us, you don't need a tab feeder anyway and will want to use liquid chlorine.

i think the idea of it was mainly as a backup
True, but keep in mind the tab feeder may (will?) eventually fail and leak. If you need tabs, use a floater. Avoid unnecessary weak points in your system.

lower temperatures
Use LC. In our area you won't need much. I used less than one gallon of LC last winter.

in case we didn't like salt or wanted to switch away from it.
Highly unlikely. There are tens of thousands of SWG owners here. You'd have to search very hard to find a single one that dislikes their SWG. If you did want to switch away from a SWG, the only other long-term viable option is LC.

It's obviously your pool and your decision, but I wouldn't install one in a new pool if I had the option.

I really like the three levels of the water features. Stunning.

Will the one flowing over the bench have a different feed so you can enjoy the feature while on the bench and in the pool?

We were unsure on autofill but decided against, based on PB recommendation. They did install a manual fill line at the equipment pad. Definitely need a manual fill if you don’t have autofill. I’m fine without autofill.

Clarify if the back of the raised wall will also be covered with stone (if you care about the back).

Verify the pebble finish. Is this pebble technology (company name) product? There is a large cost difference between pebble tec (finish) and pebble sheen. And can be a big difference between level 1 and level 2 colors.

I am glad you are getting a heater. Twenty five or so years ago, my friend moved to the Woodlands and had a pool built. He did not get a heater because his wife did not want to spend any extra money. They moved from Denver and she thought there no need for a heater. Long story short, they regretted the decision.
