Long story short, we did not have a waterfall pump plumbed and installed on our pool for our three wall spouts.

I would like to run spa spillway and have wall spouts on at same time. Only way to accomplish this is right now is by actually having pool in pool mode at 3000 RPMs. With wall spout valve open, 3000 RPMs is enough to push water through spots and the one return in the spa that is connected to pool side. I’d rather not have to run at 3000 RPMs just to get the visual effects I want.

Pool isn’t plumbed to push water over spillway and through spots in Spillway mode.

Long story short, my crazy brain started to think. If I buy a robot, I’d no longer have a use for pressure cleaner and booster pump. Could I convert the pressure side return, where I hook cleaner, to a dedicated water supply for suction side water fall pump and then plumb pressure side of pump back to pipes of my water spouts? If this works, I’d be able to run spillway and spouts on two separate pumps.

Crazy idea!!!!

It will be an entrapment risk and very dangerous. You need two suction points tied together. It will not be to code.

jd,

You could just replumb and use the pipe that comes from your main drain to supply water to your new waterfall pump.

The pool itself, does not need a main drain.

Thanks,

Ah ok. Thanks for that Jim. Yea I’ve typical kept the main drain closed or partially closed anyway. I will look into that option.

jd,

Just so that I am clear.. You would need to disconnect the main drain pipe from the Intake to the main pump and then reroute it over to the suction input to your new water fall pump. The point is that the main drain would only be used for the waterfall and no longer by the main pool pump.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I’ll have to think long and hard about this one. Would require a lot of replumbing as the plumbers didn’t leave much pipe between the skimmer valves and main drain. Seems like I’d have to cut those pipes below ground and redo the valves.

jd,

Just not an issue. Cut off the line between the "T" and main drain pipe right at the 90. This will leave you with enough pipe to cap off the end of the "T". Dig down below the valve and cut the main drain line and then reroute it to your waterfall pump. Done.
