New SWG Pool Owner -- how do I keep my FC levels up without 'BOOST' mode ?

Long story short, we got our first home and it has a 36,000 SWG pool. The 2 weeks after closing while we were still at our old lease, the pool turned dark green. Hired a guy, ended up installing a new sand filter and then I added too much CYA because of bad test strips. Then my SWG told me to add more salt, and I ended up adding too much salt (3700 PPM). I would've just hired someone because pools seem very complex but a lot of companies on google around here are out of business and many didn't even get back to me after days. So I had no choice but to look around and I found TFP.

I read everything on this site, got myself a Taylor test, bought a pump to pump a whole bunch of water, spent 2 days refilling, and I think I'm at a decent level right now.

FC @ 10
CC @ 0 - 0.5
PH @ 7.6
TA @ 60-90 (couldn't really tell if the test meant when the color transition was complete or was starting)
Calcium Hardness @ 110
CYA @ 70-80 (had accidentally raised this to 120 prior, and I find it hard to read the Taylor test because if I wait a few seconds the liquid clears a little and I can make out the black dot so not sure)

My SWG started complaining about low amps a few days ago, so I took that apart (my SWG is stuck, the top ring will not come off) but I couldn't see any buildup, but I think the plug (it's a two prong on the SWG cell and a 3 prong on the actual wire) orientation was misplaced by me, so I flipped it and put it in boost mode and it seems to be OK now. I run my pool 8AM-10PM. After running 'boost' mode the next day my FC is at 11. So it seems ok.

My question is how do I get to a point of set it and forget it? Once boost mode is off, won't the FC slowly head towards 0, because with boost mode it only managed to gain 1 PPM in a day, so I'm assuming without Boost it cannot maintain equilibrium?

Thanks

Welcome to TFP! It sounds as if your cell is showing signs of going bad. You can use our PoolMath APP (Effects of Adding) and search your make/model SWG. There you can enter pump run time to determine a projected amount of FC to be generated at any given period. That might help you.

Hmm so per the app it should be raising the ppm by 2.5 - 3 without boost. I'm getting about 26v/5a, so might be time for a new cell even though it's at 30k hours / 60k lifespan.

However I can't take the cell out because it's literally stuck inside the top ring. I've tried an oil wrench and it doesn;t work and ive actually broken pieces of the plastic ring and it still won't budge.

Any ideas? Because I can't seem to replace this cell..

When it is not in Boost mode, what output level is it set at?
