Pool pump not turning on

Hello I have an above ground pool pump I am using in my built in pool for a water feature. I just set this up and find it’s not turning on. I checked the switch and outlet that controls it and power is going to both. I opened up the pump expecting to see a capacitor but I don’t see one. See pictures attached and maybe I need to dig deeper? I only took the rear cover off at this point.
Thanks

Its new motor time. A motor for that pump is about $160-$175.00. Plus shaft seal, "O" rings, gaskets. And that's if it will come off the wet end. The through bolts that hold the whole thing together often break in the pump housing an it needing to be replaced, especially in an older pump.

You can buy that pump new for about $360.00 for a Hayward 1hp Power Flo Matrix. Nothing is as good as new except new.

Not possible it’s a bad switch? at the end of last season it was fine. Today not so much

The shaft won’t turn so I guess I’ll be getting it rebuilt. I would go for a new pump like you said but it would than involve repiping the lines that hookup to it.

Well 1poolman1 I took your advice and was able to find a new one. The discharge is easily adjusted to go to the side discharge so should be an exact replacement. The old one must be 20-25 years old and since 2009 was just used just for a water feature.
Is using Teflon tape sufficient on the new unions? Or do I really need pipe dope and if so which kind?
Thanks again

I have always used Teflon. I will often add a small amount of silicone sealant (not grease) over the tape. It only goes on the part that threads into the pump. Five wraps of tape, a little silicone, thread in until hand-tight plus a little. DO NOT thread the fitting completely in, it could break the pump (3 or 4 thread should show).
