Hi all,
I'm just opening my pool.. I realized I left my kit with all the regents in the shed over the winter. None are expired, I'm just not sure if the cold or possibility of freezing will effect them.
Thanks for the help.
Elise

What test kit are you using?
Can you borrow a test kit from a neighbor or friend to compare results with your test kit?

K-2006.
I can get regents if needed. I just wasn't sure if possible freezing would ruin them. I hope not because they aren't expired.

Sorry, I read yours post wrong.
I don't know anyone with similar test.

Not sure why freezing temperatures would have any effect on the Taylor reagents(?
Well for one, if the reagents were cold/frozen and there was a unseasonably warm day, condensation could alter the strength of any of the reagents. Would it be enough to matter ? One couldn't really know for sure.

Now think about how many temperature swings there were over the winter and something getting screwy becomes more likely.

If you can't garauntee the accuracy of the kit, it's no better than a test strip IMO.

If you could verify it as @proavia suggested, I'd feel better about using it.

I am planning to purchase new tomorrow. For today I used my small kit, kept my chlorine high. It is to cold to swim anyway.
Thank you for the reply.

So while we are on the subject, for all readers current and future, I recently realized the perfect winter storage spot for test kits. Those stupid cabinets over the fridge. It's 70 degrees all winter, and it's a PITA to reach up in there (or go get a chair for our vertically challenged members) so we all have plenty of space up there. When I had little kids I wouldn't have wanted to use under the kitchen sink, and now that I don't, under the sink is FULL of cleaning supplies.
