New here, just stumbled across this site and started lurking a few weeks ago. I’ve got a very small yard (27’ x 50’) and I’m hoping so other members have built/had pools put in a similar sized yard. I’d love to see pictures of how yours turned out as well as what type of pool you went with. I do know that I will go with some sort of in-ground pool. There is at best a 4-5’ of access space to get into the backyard. I know this may limit the type of pool that I can get. I look forward to learning more about pool ownership on this site.

Thanks,

The usable space in my back yard is only 25' deep so my pool isn't that wide. On one side it's 8', the other is 11' and the middle-ish sunshelf area is 16'. My pool is 52' long but I think that's a lot longer than most pools...I think you could work with 50'. We did one side only 8' wide b/c we are going to put in a stand alone hot tub but in retrospect, I think I could have gone wider.

More of the same with small back yards, but if I were to do it over I would go without the hot tub ( a 6X6) for my situation ( we rarely use it). 32' x 12' your looking at and 3.5 to 8 .5 deep end, I would recommend a 4' at the shallow end if you want to swim laps its better. A neighbor went 4' each end and dropping to 8 ' in the center, a volleyball pool if you would, great for weekend gatherings.

What do you want to be able to do in/with your pool? Big parties? Kids involved? Exercise? Sports? Or just to get wet? I've always thought an Endless Pool would be interesting for a small space. It's a hybrid between a pool and a spa, and you can get them with exercise options, too (simulating a lap pool). I believe they can be sunken in-ground. But they would also be ideal in an enclosed area, which might be nice in FL. If you don't need a big play pool, something like this could leave you some yard, even if you enclose it.

Those are some nice pools and give me some different ideas. @Dirk great question, I should have specified. I have two young boys and foresee this being the place to play games. I’d like for it to be big enough for that but not to take up the entire yard as we have a dog who will need some space to go “potty”. The size I’ve being playing with in my head is a 12x24. I know that it has to be 5’ off my property line but I do not know how far it must be away from the house.

I believe it has to be at least 5' from any windows/doors.
